How come? I don't understand.

Hello fellow members,

All the time I read that we need to have great content and how important is that, and I agree.

However, something keeps bugging me and I would love to hear some opinions.

Just today I googled ''Health Gifts.''

Two posts from Buzzfeed came up on 1st page, so I wanted to look over and see how they made it there, what kind of content was in those posts. (My niche is about gifts, that is why I wanted to dig deeper)

Well, there was no content at all. Only images of products with two sentences for each.

That was it.

So how? I don't get it.

Am I missing something?

Thank you in advance to those who would spare their time to leave me their opinion, as I am confused now...

Wishing you all a great and productive day!

Lena

I think you are on the right track, and your website is great! Perhaps the other posts had been there longer or linked to a website that was older than yourself. I know Kyle once pointed out that you will gain trust as your website ages, and that will lead to better rankings!
Best wishes and keep going!
Cheers, Lisa

Thank you Lisa! You can imagine my confusion after seeing then on page 1:) Trying to find the logic, but Iam not that advanced in my knowledge yet.

Hey Miglena, sometimes I think it's the dumbing-down of society. A society full of consumers at that.

I'm no expert by any means but based on what you saw on Buzzfeed & what I see on FB, G+ & YouTube, it seems that a good amount of the consumer populace wants less words, more pics & videos.

I read an article that stated something like by 2017 65% or more of consumed internet content will be via video.

So no, I don't think you're missing anything. Perhaps folks these days would prefer pictures to words.

Thank you, Derek, for your comment!
I did receive feedback on my site not long ago, and part of it was ''I did find, however, that when digging a bit deeper and looking for gifts I had to go through long articles of stuff that I had no interest in''.

Either my writing skills are horrible, or somehow I can't get the message to people that my site is not e-commerce, rather than helping people finding the right gift by giving them ideas.
I believe if someone is looking for a gift they don't know exactly what they are looking for.

My girlfriends often ask me for advice on what they should get someone, not what kind of bracelet or book or ring they should get. They have no clue! They need someone to give them ideas and why maybe they are good ideas so they can pick one.

I think good gift ideas are invaluable! I see exactly what you mean about your site and you are offering great gift ideas.

I checked out your site & G+ page, your posts are actually talking about the gifts, and telling a story like the lady you met who wanted Kemetic(Egyptian) decor.

Personally, I get exactly where you're coming from and think you have an awesome site!

I left a comment & followed you on G+ too!

Thank you Derek very much!

I am sure not everyone will like my website. People have a different lifestyle, taste, and personalities.
My goal is not to try to please everyone but the right people who would appreciate and enjoy my articles.

I follow a food network that I like, and I use their recipes quite often. I read the comments sometimes, and I am impressed how many nasty comments a posted video recipe gets sometimes, and I have done some of those recipes, and they were delicious. Again different people different tastes, but why the nastiness?
