Just Keep Going: Parenthood and Toddler Illness
In the spirit of Dory (from Finding Nemo and now her own show), I've been pushing through things lately with my own saying of, "Just keep going, just keep going, just keep going, going, going..."
I have two toddlers who attend daycare. It is hard enough to get stuff done when they are home, so I try to be as productive as I can with my schedule when it comes to everything. Efficiency is a skill I think every parent tries to master.
It is made more difficult when they keep getting sick. Every parent that has children in daycare knows this. You feel me? It has been a constant 3 weeks of sickness in our house. The vicious cycle keeps continuing. We've all even been on medication at some point or another. It doesn't help when the daycare confirms that, "Oh yes, there's a bug going around this week and it originated in this classroom," or, "Oh yes, there's a cough going around in that class."
Then add the fact that there are new kids in the classes at the daycare, so there are all of these new biomes being introduced to my children to get used to. Ugh... please stop the insanity already!
At least I know that as they grow up they will be less likely to get ill, since they are being introduced to all of these fun germs now. But for now I've become frustrated with being sick and not able to actually rest. Any single parents out there that know where I'm coming from?

....and you just keep going, going, going and going....I do know what it's like. It's good that you are not a children's entertainer like I was....I was forever catching bugs from children....lol !
I can only imagine. I worked as a case manager with children for a year and I was constantly sick. I got strep 4 times in like 3 months. It was horrible.
Hi Leigh,
This is great, you can definitely go forward with it.
I worked in the early education setting for some year. I can truly say Child Health is a very good niche. Narrow it down some it is huge.
Hope this will help you towards making your decision.
Hi Louisa. This is really just a thought for the day (or the past couple of weeks) that came out in writing. Maybe I can make a website for Child Health in the future. You are right. One can do a lot inside that type of niche.
In the meantime Leigh, remember that nothing worth it comes easy. Hang in there. You're going to be just fine.
daycare sucks... although my wife and I haven't had to deal with that for a long time, my oldest son is going through all that now with his children... a constant barrage of new illnesses, what is that saying??? oh yea, whatever doesn't kill me, makes me stronger... anyway, you seem to have the right attitude... keep going, keep going... keep going... wait a minute, isn't that what the energizer bunny does?
Have a great weekend, and good luck with all your online endeavors!

This use to happen a lot in my house. With so many kids and all of them in school someone is bound to bring things home that I don't want there. Then I read a historic article about the plague. During the plague they were wondering how certain houses seemed "untouched" by the disease that had virtually wiped out the town. The only common factor was cut onions through out the houses. We now know onions have the power to pull toxins out of the air. (just don't eat them after they have sat cut on your counter for awhile at some point they go from being onions to being fatal tools of warfare lol)
Nice to know! I may have to try that. The only catch is that I react so easily to onions. I choke, cough, my eyes burn like no tomorrow just from the aroma. Are there any onions in particular that are less powerful in scent, but still crazy effective?
