The Power Of Why
Many people come to affiliate marketing after searching for ways to make money online or earn extra income. Although affiliate marketing is a great way to accomplish this but many people will see the results and not take action. They may decide without even trying that it's just another online scam. Some may sign up and never make a single post. Others may post but after a couple of days with no income decide that it just doesn't work. This is a common process when you focus on the how without having the why.
The Problem
Looking to make extra income is not the problem. There are many reasons to want or need to make some extra money. The problem is when you don't know why you want to make extra cash. Having a why can make all the difference in the world in whether you are successful or not. When you know your why patience, effort, and motivation aren't going to keep you from achieving success.
Finding Your Why
To find you why, you need to drill down into your core. You may have started with a query such as "How do I make enough extra income to quit my job?" You will find results but quitting your job really isn't enough motivation for most people. If that was the case, a lot less people would be complaining about work. Why do you want to quit your job? It may be that you want more time to spend with your kids or that you'd like to travel more than you can take off. Really think about why you want to accomplish things and you will find your own why. If you don't get at least somewhat emotional when you think about it, you haven't yet found your why.
The Power Of Why
There have been a lot of recent changes to my life which cause me to think a little differently about many things. As a single guy, there was not much accountability to personal projects and a lot of them tend to slip but I didn't quite have a why yet. I am now recently engaged and we have been thinking about our lives ahead of us and how we'd like that to look. One of my discoveries is that my fiancé, a teacher, has spring break, fall break, and summer vacation all as time off work. On the other hand, I have two weeks paid vacation. There is a ton of opportunity to enjoy travel together that is lost due to being tied to a desk 40 hours a week. We'd also like to have children who will have that same time off. You see where this is going?
I have decided that change needed to happen. Although I have been a programmer for several companies for over a decade, that time in my life is coming to an end. I am now looking at how I will transition out of full-time work and give myself flexibility while still being able to support myself and family. This initially includes a mix of things that I can start while working full-time and grow until I can comfortably leave to focus on my own business. Affiliate marketing is one of those things which is what brings me to WA.
