Are websites created by people in WA protected by copyright laws?

You can read Carson’s message here...

Thank you. I’ll do this

Yes. These guys know what they're doing more than any group I've worked with before. That isn't to say that some low-life with too much time on their hands couldn't hack it, but in general, they've done a great job to prevent that.

Thank you. I was pretty sure I’d read this somewhere about them being protected, but this helps me feel better.

Everything online is protected by copyright laws to some extent. The content you created on your website most definitely is. WA is just hosting your website, just like any other hosting company. They don't own anything on your site. But I guess they own the content you create here, on the actual platform. Including these questions and blog posts you publish inside WA.

Thank you for your thoughtful answer

Glad I could help. Have a great day!

Yes. Especially if you have the copyright symbol at the bottom of every page/post. Most themes include it automatically. :)

You also have additional site security as part of the hosting.

Has anyone been sued by products customers have purchased via websites made by anyone from “Wealthy Affiliate”?

This has not happened to me. I suppose it's because i don't sell much yet.

You have to be careful writing negative reviews. Big companies have big lawyers. Best not to cross them.

No but I had a scare because of a review I wrote. You can find it from my profile as the latest blog post.

As an affiliate, you are relatively safe from the buying customers. The vendor is doing the actual selling. Just don't make any false claims that might affect the buying decision. A disappointed customer might be disgruntled enough to go after the person who recommended the product but that would be highly unlikely.

Thank you so much for your reply. This helps me feel better about continuing on with WA.

No. But you need to make sure you have the appropriate disclaimers on your site.
Paula

I’m very new to this and curious how I go about getting disclaimers on my first set up through following instructions during training?

I believe Kyle goes over it. I found a disclosure for my health site on another site. :)

Is “My Wealthy Affiliate” a pyramid scheme? Please send me an honest answer.

Featured Comment

Not sure how it would even be in the same bucket, as there are not multiple levels. We have an affiliate program, the same way Nike.com has an affiliate program. People can promote our service/software in exchange for a commissions, which is how affiliate marketing works.

Pyramid schemes have multiple levels and are usually masked as "network marketing" or "multi level marketing".

There are 10,000's of affiliate programs (like WA) and over 550 MILLION products/services that you can promote as an affiliate marketer. That is what you are going to learn here. :)

PS. We have been advocates for the past 14 years fighting against pyramid and illegal schemes, and helping people avoid scams online.

Thank you, Kyle.
I was trying to tell my folks what I was doing with WA and since I’m still learning about this; they were trying to tell me this was a pyramid scheme and are concerned that these programs were out to steal my stuff or someone could sue me if something bought in my website caused harm or injury to them.
I just needed to ask some questions to learn more about this type of business in hopes of setting my mind and hopefully, theirs, at ease.
I have to admit that although I’d love to give lots more time to this business; I’ve gots going in my life at this time that is affecting how much time I can put into program. If I don’t see any financial gain by the end of January I’ll be getting out of WA.

Your concerns are valid Lori as there are so many scams out there to hurt people.

You will learn that in Affiliate Marketing, other companies like Amazon, Walmart, Saks Fifth Avenue and thousands more encourage affiliates like us eom promote the products they sell on their online stores.

After signing up to be an affiliate they give you a unique link that you can use on your website posts where you do reviews, reports and comparisons to help your visitors make an informed decision to buy. You will have to do your homework to learn more about the products you promote. That is why it is so important to pick a niche that you can be proud of marketing.

When a visitor wants to buy through your website they click the link that takes them directly to the companies online store where they can make their purchase. Your unique link tells the company where the customer came from and will credit your account you set up with them with your commission.

All the legalities are handled by the company as if the customer went directly to the store's website. You act as the conduit and are not the one making the final sale.

Let your friends and family know that this agreement is just between you and the affiliate company and as Kyle stated, there are no other layers of people between you and the sale. Hence you do not make any commission on the sales of any network as you do not build one in Affiliate Marketing.

Since you are new you have yet to learn the details of how this works. I recommend you go through the training, learn new skills and put them into action. You will not get rich quick. In fact, this is a get rich slow program lol. You need to become an authority on the niche you select in the eyes of Google, Bing and Yahoo in order to help grow your traffic. This takes effort and time. But it does work as so many members here have demonstrated.

The question is are you willing to do what it takes to build an online asset that will pay you 24/7 even when you are sleeping?

Then all your family and friends will want to jump on the bandwagon, right?

I hope this little pep talk helps.

I wish you much success in your affiliate marketing journey.

Edwin

Absolutely not Lori. I have been retired for 13 years and have seen every scam, fake, get rich quick shiny object scheme there is. Most are just plain lying websites, I will promise WA is not.

WA gives you all the tools and resources to be very successful making money online and you will meet some really nice, helpful people from all over the world. We all want to see you succeed.

I knew zero about making money online one year ago today. I am building my 5th money-making website as we speak. Give it a chance Lori. PM me if you have a questions.

Nothing ventured, nothing gained.

Making a living, making a difference.
Mark

Thank you, Mark. Believe me, I definitely want to give this a chance and tried to explain this to my folks. I do know that if this had been a scam; I would not have been acknowledged as having been made a premium member nor felt this much encouragement and willingness to help me succeed. I tried to tell them this, too. I love my family and parents and know they are just very concerned that I’m wasting time and money and for nothing to show for it. I aim to prove this idea wrong.

Lori, do this. In one month ( and you WILL be able to do this ).
Go and show them your LoriBissett.com website that enables you to make money online.

No. It is not MLM or network marketing or anything like a pyramid scheme.

Honestly.

Whatever you get is due to your own efforts.

Dave.

Thank you for replying to this question.

Absolutely not--as explained by Christine below!

Jeff

Thank you, Jeff

A resounding NO! A pyramid scheme, aside from being illegal, is when somebody is sold something that doesn't really exist, but the people selling it make money from it. Kyle and company are a legitimate company who have a product and service. Even the affiliate side of this is legit, real, and legal. There is no pyramid in sight!!!!!!!!

There are a number of MLM's that are not pyramid schemes as they have a legitimate product or service service that is sold. Even Warren Buffet has created an MLM. A JOB is a pyramid - there is only one CEO, a few vice presidents, a few more managers and hundreds of workers. Don't confuse these with 'Ponzi schemes' ala Bernie Madoff. These are illegal.

GeauxLSU. You are right CMKetay. Are you new here? You are very smart.

Believe me, I was trying to explain this to my folks earlier this evening. I know they have my best interests at heart but are concerned I’m getting myself into something that could hurt me in the end.

Yes, I’m very new here. I agree that @CMKetay I right in her answer and intelligent.

Research yourself, educate yourself, on any topic. Then make YOUR decision. Entrepreneurs do not let others tell us we cannot do something. That just makes us try even harder.
