Creating, Missing and Scoring Goals

With the world situation as is, a lot of us will be missing our beloved sports. My passion as a supporter is football and most specifically Aston Villa FC.

The agony or ecstasy of a football player missing or scoring a goal must be unreal for the actual player but it is almost matched by us 40,000+ stadium supporters following every move.

The preparation, the teamwork, the effort, the creation of the chance, the shot at the goal and the final result all bought down to just one moment. The emotion at that moment has to be released, whether triggered by failure or success.

Creating Realistic Goals

Just like a football player, here at WA we must be realistic when creating our goals. There is no point shooting from the half-way line when the goalkeeper is fully prepared. In open play, the chance of success is limited when there are multiple obstacles (opposition players) in the way.

Setting ourselves goals that are challenging but achievable is a key to being realistic. We can start by judging our past performance and taking a view to how we are going to progress going forward.

How much effort can we put-in? How many obstacles are in our way? How are we going to get around those obstacles? What training do we need to do? What is our competition?

Missing Goals

As a footballer, missing a goal can be devastating, but they must get up, brush themselves down and go again.

Here at WA, it is exactly the same. No matter how realistic our goals were, facts are that unexpected obstacles in life or in WA could prevent us from achieving them this time. The key is don't quit! Brush ourselves down and go again.

Achieving a goal late is still 10,000% better than quitting or walking away. In fact getting that late goal can release more elation than if we had achieved it on time. We got around all those unexpected obstacles, we beat what life threw at us.

Scoring Goals

Once more, the footballer to WA comparison is real. A player scoring a goal can live in the moment, enjoy the occasion, but quite quickly they need to set themselves up, and drive forward to achieving the next goal. The game isn't over!

As WA'ers, by all means pat ourselves on the back, blog about our success story to fellow WA'ers but then sit down re-focus and set the next goal or set of goals. The game is not over!

If we are realistic, the ultimate goal of a passive income will never really be achieved until we are fully retired. We are business people! We are ambitious! We are hard-working by nature! Therefore, no matter what passive income we are getting from past goals achieved, we will be driving ourselves forward for more success by setting more goals for the future.

Goals Achieved

I hadn't set myself any specific goals for the last few weeks. As a newbie, I couldn't really judge my past performances and therefore couldn't set any realistic goals. But I can still relish in my achievements:-

  • 20 articles across 2 websites (was 12)
  • OCE level 3 training complete and Bootcamp Level 2 complete (from levels 2 and 1)
  • 5 Affiliate Networks fully signed up for (from Zero)
  • Business Partnership Set-up (from nothing)
  • 353 WA followers (was 85)
  • WA Rank 594 (from around 180,000 I think)

Goals Set

Having some past performance data and some experience, I have now (today) set myself realistic goals for the next week, month, 3 months and 6 months.

I haven't had any affiliate income as yet (as expected) and therefore have no past performance data financially and consequently haven't set any financial goals for the next 6 months at the moment.

Apologies, they are in reverse order. I didn't realise how WA works.

Good Luck

Set your realistic goals, my friends and good luck in achieving them.

Wishing you all good health. Stay Safe!
