I was wondering about the number of affiliate programs I have. I have ALOT lol. Nothing has worked for me so far. I guess my question is, should I only use a few, and use them always, like banners on sidebar and for posts or should I use different ones all the time. Which way is more likely to get sales? I'm starting to think that if I only advertise the same companies that maybe it will look like more of a professional site instead of different ads for every post (does that look like a site is purely for advertising)?

Any thoughts?

Back in the day, it was okay to throw up a lot of mini-sites in different niches to take advantage of Adsense or other revenue generating programs.

Today is different. Google and the other search engines are looking for authority sites to provide their customers with the best information possible. If you want to get organic (free) traffic you must continually provide fresh and useful content.

There are only 24 hours in a day. You can't be an authority in every niche. I suggest you concentrate on one niche and make it very successful. Once it is, you can pick another related niche and do the same thing. Eventually you will have several profitable sites that you can manage without a lot of effort.

it will work

Do one until it works, then roll it out to others if you wish. It does sound to me like your are spreading your efforts out too thinly.

It is better to focus on only a few. The programs that give you life time commission and not just once will be better, just like WA. Also, promote items which are higher in value.

I only have amazon affiliate on my site

I would study it out and put everything onto ONE main affiliate concentration!

Maybe do an experimental site with different ones to see how it works out

Sometimes it's good to have a site devoted to one product, or line of products. But it depends. Focusing on one program may be better, get it going either by site or categories on a site. If you feel like it's going, keep it going and start on another one. Keep building.

This is a great question and the answer you've received so far makes a lot of sense. I've wondered about this myself.

If your site is offering your audience all the help you can give them, they will be more open to suggestions you might have for a product or service - make sure you are using or firmly believe in what you offer them,
If your post or page is loaded up with offers (sidebar) that does not apply to your topic, it will only look like all you want to do is "sell" them ... today, we have to give people more than ever before, before we can gain their trust.
We're in this to make a good living, but we have to build the confidence of our audience before promoting products and services ... they're on to us!
Hope this makes sense.
