How I Keep Rankings in Google Without Creating New Posts

People are often surprised when they look at my websites as to how I am still retaining awesome first page rankings in Google and other search engines when I am not regularly posting content.
Obviously I would create more posts on my site on a regular schedule if I had more time and if that was the only component of my business. In fact, I would be posting new “keyword targeted” posts everyday. That is ultimately how you scale a business.
However, I post when I get the opportunity to...sometimes this is once per week, sometimes it is once per month. It just depends what my workload is looking like with the projects that are always taking place behind the scenes at WA and managing and keeping Wealthy Affiliate up to date in general.
But the last thing I let happen is let my websites suffer with NO content. That would be the demise of my rankings and the REASON I am able to outrank many of the more so called “big brand sites” online is because Google still views my website as an authority.
If I am not creating new posts, why would they ever consider me an authority? I mean, I am not creating any new content right?
WRONG.
I still generate tons of fresh, new, and relevant content on my site. But how?

In a Word, COMMENTS!
Comments Are Content!
Some of my most popular and highest ranking posts have the most comments and the best dialogue. Not comments like “nice article”, rather through insightful, opinionated, helpful, and even at times very negative comments. I respond to every single comment on my website, which yields even more conversation.

These add value to my readers. Google loves valuable pages. Therefore as I build content that gets this high level of engagement, Google naturally loves my site and will continue to assign me authority.
So, although I may not be regularly updating my actual page/post content itself, it is always being updated through the discussions taking place in my comment threads. This over time will lead to substantial posts on your site, in fact, I have pages/post on my website that have well over 50,000 words simply because of the comments.
That is huge and there is no way another person's post with 1,000 words is going to walk in and take my rankings away from me with ease.
SEO Sustainability = Social Content.
Don’t confuse “social marketing” with social content. Social content is making your content lifelike, interactive, and continual. This is done through comments.
Sustaining and maintaining your rankings in Google has never been more important as now as more and more content is constantly being pushed into search engines often times you will need a distinguishing factor between the other content out there besides just the quality of your content.
If you want to get rankings and KEEP THEM, think no further than valuable comments. It will make all the difference in the world.
