Beer With Kyle - Rethinking the Core Training Design
Hey Everyone,
Today I’m walking you through the new core training module in the Wealthy Affiliate beta UX. I’ll show how it works and get your feedback.
Beer of the Week
First thing's first though, this week’s beer is the Berliner Pilsner by Howl Brewing, an indie small-batch brewery in Esquimalt, BC. It pours clear like a classic pilsner and tastes crisp with subtle fruit notes, surprisingly tasty for a small-batch experiment.
New Core Training Module
We’ve redesigned the core training experience to make it more intuitive:
- Direct Access: Core training is no longer hidden inside a hub. Now, when you click Core Training, you land immediately on your next lesson.
- Phase Layout: Training is organized into Phase One, Phase Two, and Phase Three. Each lesson appears in sequence, and checking off a lesson marks it complete.
- Resume Where You Left Off: Returning to the core training will take you back to the last unchecked lesson—so you never lose your place.
- Reset Option (Coming Soon): You’ll be able to reset your training progress if you launch a new website or hub, making it easy to start fresh on subsequent projects.
Improved Create Module
At the top you’ll see the Create module, where you can quickly post questions, create blog posts, or access drafts. We’re still refining the color scheme and layout to encourage more content creation.
Mobile Experience
Though I’m demoing on desktop, the mobile design is a major focus. Expect a sleek, intuitive experience on phones and tablets when the beta goes live.
Join the Beta & Share Feedback
We’re aiming for a mid-May release. Until then, I’d love your thoughts on:
- The direct-access core training layout
- The phase-based lesson structure
- The upcoming reset feature
- The new design of the core training (and menu) as well as the create module design
Drop your feedback in the comments below. :)

Hi Kyle!
Thanks for the update! As always, you and your team are always thinking about how you can improve the WA platform. I appreciate that.
It is great to be able to have easier access to the core training. The phase based feature is a great idea within the core training. I am happy with all the other added functionalities. The color scheme looks great! Simplicity is always the best!
Thanks again! Have a productive week ahead! Wishing you the very best!
Kind regards,
Nichola
Sorry I think I missed where the Traffic Training went.
Overall, I like the idea of core training being outside of the hub. I found that awkward when I recently returned.
I like the hub though. I think there is lots of value there. The niche research, etc. It was neat seeing all that there.
That's all I got - for now! Glad to see we're constantly trying to improve!
Hello Kyle,
The direct access core training will ofcourse make matters a lot easier for a lot of starters.
For me, the phase based structure is a boon.I was getting a bit impatient with it.
I am so glad that you thought of the reset feature. It will help all those who are brimming with ideas. I, am only sticking to my two niches till I really monetize them.
I guess the module will organize the training. It does seem to simplify things.
Thank you for being so proactive!
Sounds good Nita, and of course as you move through the phases you will get into the traffic and monetization elements of your business. Lots to look forward to as you move forward with your business.
Glad you approve of these updates and thanks for your feedback. :)
Good morning Kyle,
Thank you for another update, it's appreciated.
Once again, as always, I'm amazed by your dedication on trying to make Wealthy Affiliate better and better, Bravo to that!
I do think that having direct access to the training is a very good idea, although it's also good to have it within the hubs. I believe that the training will also be available within the hubs.
I always think having a phase based structure and breaking down training videos and modules is a good idea as it helps the user to see progress.
A reset feature is definitely a good idea and maybe a feature that also undoes the reset. Although, I appreciate that may not be possible.
Incidentally, I like the idea of encouraging members to post and create content, that sounds good to me!
I guess that I'm someone who doesn't take too much notice of colour schemes, but more functionality and ease-of-use. How easy would it be for users to change the colour scheme, maybe that's getting really technical and complicated!
I'm looking forward to seeing all the new functionality, Kyle, it's looking good.
Wishing you a fantastic weekend.
Roy
Yeah, it made a lot more sense to have training within Hubs when it was task based. But the reality is people are working within multiple tabs when they are doing the training, and taking action on what they are learning so this environment will be more conducive to that.
Also, when people arrive now at WA they will be put directly into the training environment, so they can learn about WA and how to navigate to their Hub, then how to build their Hub. Currently you have to build a Hub in order to even unlock the training, which doesn't make sense.
As always, thanks for your feedback here Roy. We are making lots of changes and improvements within the new environment and better the platform and set-up for a lot of exciting future updates that we have slated beyond this release. ;)
I appreciate that it must be extremely difficult knowing the best way to navigate Wealthy Affiliate, due to the amount of content and functionality.
It certainly seems a good idea to show members how to move forward once they sign up to the platform.
I remember when I first joined the platform, it took me some time to navigate and find everything. I don't think this was down to a bad design, just more down to the amount of content and functionality, etc. I kept finding small gold nuggets, several years on!
It's great to see the amount of effort that you put into making the Wealthy Affiliate platform better, Kyle, it's also good that you also communicate with people like myself and other members. That is a huge plus point when it comes to promoting Wealthy Affiliate.
A very happy Sunday to you.
Roy

It makes a lot more sense to have it as its own menu item. In the hub it made no sense to me especially when you have already done a lot of the modules with a new hub you have to start all over again. So I believe this is a great improvement.
Yeah, for sure. Thanks for the feedback here, we are definitely on the same page, and this is something we wanted to update for awhile but it needed to come with a UX switch.
As always, appreciate your feedback An! :)
