Beer With Kyle: Improving the Guest Blog Experience at Wealthy Affiliate
Hey everyone!
Today I want to talk about an important part of Wealthy Affiliate, especially if you create content here or share posts as an affiliate: the guest blog experience.
By guest experience, I mean what someone sees when they land on a Wealthy Affiliate blog post without being logged in. This is often their first interaction with our platform, and it plays a big role in whether they decide to join.
We are reworking this experience from the ground up, and as always, your feedback matters.
Why the Guest Blog Experience Matters
Every day, high-quality content is published at Wealthy Affiliate. That content gets shared on social media, indexed by Google, and promoted by affiliates.
When someone clicks through, they usually come with one goal: to read the content.
Our job is to:
- Let them consume the content without distraction
- Help them recognize the value of the platform behind it
- Give them a clear, natural next step to join
The current guest blog layout does convert, but not as well as it should. It has too many distractions, does not work well on mobile, and pulls attention away from the content itself.
What Wasn’t Working Before
The old guest experience had a few issues:
- A cluttered menu and layout
- Popups that repeated the same message
- Comments that could distract or lower perceived quality
- Poor mobile experience
- Too many competing elements pulling focus away from reading
Ultimately, it didn’t match the quality of the content or the brand we are building today.
The New Guest Blog Experience
The new guest experience is clean, focused, and content-first.
Here’s what’s changing:
- No unnecessary menus or distractions
- Clear reading time and structured layout
- Designed to work perfectly on mobile
- Smooth, subtle calls-to-action as you scroll
- Clear entry points to join, without interrupting reading
Instead of pushing people, we guide them naturally from reading to action.
Clear, Simple Paths to Join
Throughout the article, there are gentle prompts like:
- “Want to apply this instead of just reading about it?”
- “Start building risk-free today”
Each leads to a simple join flow:
- No credit card required
- 4,000 AI credits instantly loaded
- Immediate access to training and tools
After joining, it clearly communicates:
“You’re in. Your setup is ready. Let’s build.”
That moment matters. It should feel valuable, not confusing.
Why This Is Better for Members and Affiliates
This update benefits everyone:
- Readers get a better experience
- Members get higher-quality representation of their content
- Affiliates get stronger conversion potential from every shared post
Every blog post becomes a cleaner, more effective gateway into Wealthy Affiliate.
I’d Love Your Feedback
This is a big improvement, but we are not done refining it.
Let me know:
- What you like about the new experience
- What could be better
- Anything that feels unclear or unnecessary
Drop your thoughts in the comments. Your feedback directly influences how we continue to improve the platform.
Have a great weekend, and I’ll catch up with you next week!

Your prototype looks good with fewer distractions and, let me say it, a more "bloglike" post presentation to the reader.
I noticed the main image at the top of the post appeared to change and was not the image from or original post here at WA. Was that just a "property" of your prototype?(I have a separate question relating to the sizing of the header image and Image Studio which I will post as question.)
Will the WA backend in presenting the WA post for the guest blog experience decide where to insert the CTAs?
How will the follow up posts placed at the end of the post be determined- by the author or by the subject or randomly?
I assume each link added to the post will contain the affiliate link from the original link to the guest post.
Cheers
Geoff
PS here is the question I mentioned
https://my.wealthyaffiliate.com/what-is-the-optimal-size-for-cover-images-on-blogs-here-in-wa?a_aid=o0imogim
They CTA's will be automatic, based on the length of the post. So yes, this is going to be something that is controlled by the system itself, versus something that is user initiated or that requires moderation.
We are after uniformity as well, with a focus on offering exit points if people want to take part in the platform and community here.
As for cover size, I use 21:9 when I create mine, perhaps that is the size you want to utilize as well. ;)
Thanks, Kyle for the updates about the post features. First, I like the idea of cleaning things up. Since I'm a member, I don't see the post in the same way as a guest, and this videos gives me an idea of how the old and new look like. I don't have any other suggestions of what to add or remove as for now, but I love the idea. It sounds like it'll convert better with fewer distractions. Keep us posted.
John
Thanks for your feedback here John, this is definitely cleaning things up for guests, making the content more readable, and also making a pitch that makes more sense to the audience.
Ideally you could just share great content that is created here, and generate referrals and income. That is one of the goals with these updates. :)
Hello Kyle,
I appreciate your thoughts on this issue. Based on my own experience, pop ups and ads can be annoying to readers - it tends to interrupt the flow of reading the content easily. The new structure should be more mobile friendly and eye catching. Thank you. 🤗
Yeah, pop-ups are annoying...in particular if you didn't initiate it. The on hover of address bar was annoying, and redundant so we removed that. Lots of improvements on this new experience, and one key one is the simplification. ;)
Thanks Kyle For Your Post And Vídeo. WA Should Stay Doing The Best For WA Members, Family😊😊

I like the fact that it is clean, and it gives the reader exactly the reason why they clicked, which is to read the article..
One thing I would keep though, on top right corner "Start Free" I would keep the fact that no credit card is required even without the hoovering.
Thanks Kyle
Thanks Rami, I actually did like how that "pattern interrupt" brought attention to that, we also indicate that within other areas as well and it allows for the sitting interface to be a little more cleaner without that sub note.
I totally understand what you are saying there, but we also had our reasons for keeping that hidden because it is something that users are made aware of elsewhere, and it popping in also helps people see it better versus it being there all the time (and people might look right over top of it).
We are looking forward to getting this out, we believe it will lead to a lot more people reading quality content within WA, and a lot higher referral rate for those that a sharing great content from here at WA. In an ideal world you could just share WA content all day and build a business around that!
