AI Isn't Replacing You. It's Raising the Bar.

I want to talk about something that I think a lot of people are getting wrong right now. And I'm seeing it everywhere. In the news, on social media, even in conversations within our own community.

The idea that AI is going to take your job. That it's going to make what you do irrelevant. That we're all about to be replaced by robots and algorithms and there's nothing we can do about it.

I don't buy it. And I'll tell you why.

Every major technology that has ever come along has been met with the exact same fear.

• PCs were supposed to save us time. They didn't. They let people handle more work, and the expectations went up.
• The internet was supposed to simplify everything. Instead, it expanded the playing field to a global scale and created entirely new industries that didn't exist before.
• Smartphones were supposed to give us freedom. They made work constant. Always connected, always accessible, always on.

See the pattern?

Every single "time-saving" technology in history has actually INCREASED what people can do. Not decreased it. It raised the bar. It expanded output. It didn't shrink the workforce... it grew what the workforce was capable of.

AI is following the exact same playbook. And I think once you see it that way, everything changes.

Here's what's actually happening right now. A recent EY survey of 500 senior executives found that 96% of companies investing in AI are already seeing productivity gains. But only 17% used those gains to cut jobs. The vast majority reinvested into growth, new capabilities, and training their people. That tells you everything you need to know about where this is heading.

And the fear that AI is replacing a world full of workers who aren't needed anymore? That falls apart pretty quickly when you look at the numbers. As of February 2026, there are still 6.9 million unfilled job openings in the US. Some states have as few as 41 available workers for every 100 open jobs. Three out of four companies say they can't find the qualified people they need.

AI isn't replacing a surplus. It's filling gaps that already exist.

It's reinforcements, not a full takeover.
