I washed my clothes the other day and after pulling them out of the dryer, I noticed my thumb drive laying on the bottom of the drum. I'm thinking CRAP!

I have a lot of images saved on that thumb drive. So I'm writing a blog for my website and doing some work on it and plug in my thumb drive to upload some images and you probably guessed it by now. USB device not reconized!

I even have my logos saved on that device. Now what do I do? I'm trying to think if I have them saved anywhere else.

Is there any way to retrieve the information off of a washed and dryed thumb drive?

Or am I just SOL?

This was truely a brain fart kinda day. A UH OH moment.

Any help would be appreciated!

Wow! Bummer!

Glad a few days allowed your USB device to dry out completely. Check your pockets next time you do laundry.

Don't you love the support we get from the WA community?

Yes, but it also made me realize, maybe backup on a couple devices.

Were you able to get all of your stuff off a washed drive?

I did! but I need to put it on some other drives. I was thinking micro sd card.

Holy Crap,my USB is working! I need to back this up on some other devices. Recommendations? Maybe a micro USB? At least those I can keep in a case, I'm sure I won't wash and dry a case.

Any thoughts?

I don't think that you are going to get anything off the device. I believe that it is ruin from the water and the heat from the dryer. You could do what dbriley said wait a couple day and see what happens

I have done the same thing. I wonder if you wait a couple of days if it will work.

I've actually done the same thing-not with this site, but with other info I had saved. Luckily, mine still worked! Not sure if it was because the thumb drive was an enclosed type or not. I've heard people say to put wet cell phones in sand or dry rice to soak up liquids, not sure if this would help..
