It's been a year and I'm still here.

Hello Wealthy Affiliate (WA). I have been a pro member over a year now and I am here to tell you; I have not made money. That’s true and there is a reason behind it: Me! I am the reason I have not made money. I haven’t finished the training, learned and applied the skills. I made a mistake.

When I started at WA, I was so happy because it played to my strength – content. I love to write. So, I was sailing right up until it got to my weaknesses - anything social and marketing. Those came up fairly quickly, but I ignored them and stuck with content. That was my mistake.

And there were set backs also. My significant other got cancer - but I turned that into content and kept going. It wasn’t smooth, but I felt like it could help other people who found themselves in the same situation. I was taking a positive from an un happy situation, and writing about it made me feel better.

That said; even if none of that had been the case, I still would not have made money because, in my life, it takes time to achieve goals. When I went to college it took me two, then four, then six years to collect the degree which allowed me to go out and make the money I needed. In those six years I invested time, money and effort in getting the knowledge and skills I needed to go to work in my field.

Don’t get me wrong WA is my shortcut. I fully expect to make it in two – five years. Five years you say. Yes, because I am not prepared to give all my time to WA. I’m a grandparent! I need to spend time with family while I am well enough to do it. In college I could eat bad, not exercise and pull all nighters, but I am not that person now. I am health conscious. I need time for exercise, good food, and family. And I work a job. So, I keep it real with myself.

This year I will learn marketing and be good at it. I realize that I must learn marketing to reach my goal to earn money as an entrepreneur online. I have been bad at it and I have no one to blame but myself. I can change that. I will be a better business person and learn what I need to know. This is my year of marketing.

I want to be clear. I plan to make money this year, but I am not going to be an overnight, rags to riches, results not typical, success. I am going to be a results typical success. I am what happens when you find a good thing like WA and stick with it.
