Mind Action Put to Action: the Niche Debate

Well, my mind is humming. With that kind of momentum that is full of potential, but ultimately is whirring in place. I've gone through a few more of the lessons in Course 1. And, one of the best pieces of advice for me (thanks Kyle!) is "don't over-think it". So much easier said than done! I'm a big thinker, and I like to follow ideas down to some pretty intricate details. This can be a powerful skill but has the danger of getting stuck.

The art of picking a niche has been one of my biggest challenges. I keep thinking I've figured it out, narrowed it down enough, only to realize I have some more fine tuning ahead. I began my journey 3 years ago when I decided to specialize in stress management. I thought this would be a particular enough skill and topic that I would have no problem starting a business and making great income. Well, I was wrong, haha. I needed to fine tune "who" I wanted to work with. So earlier this year, I realized that I wanted to work with moms. It was a big "a-ha!" moment, and I thought I was set. BUT, even though most moms will admit that they are stressed or overwhelmed, they are not necessarily looking for my services.

Enter Wealthy Affiliate. One of the best things about this community is just that: community! Having people to bounce ideas off of in real time is the best remedy for when the brain is feeling stuck. And, even though I know I shouldn't overthink it, I was overthinking my niche, and what I should call my first website. I've done my research, and located products. I've also identified some of my competitors. All I need to do is jump into action!

I think sometimes we have an ideal, an idea of perfection and we don't want to move forward until we get there. But that can lead to an endless swirl of inadequacy. So, I am letting go of the need for the perfect identified niche, the perfect first website name, and am ready to jump into action; how else will I learn? And, really, that's what's most important. The irony is that this is a fundamental practice in managing stress: let go of perfection. The better alternative is to show up at your current best, and aim to be a little better.

Here I go....jump!

*Cheers*
