Creative writing is creative

Great content is everywhere. We come across these pieces and get taken in by the words on the screen/paper. The words are captivating: the way the they flow together in an enticing pattern immerses you into the world of whatever you’re reading. We seek for more work by that author. The more we read and admire their work, the more we begin to wish that we could write like them.

Well there’s absolutely no reason that we can’t!

Sometimes we’re fearful of putting words on paper. Why? Because there’s someone out there that can do it better. But that doesn’t matter! Writing style is a continuously evolving skill.

I’ve read a lot of different things when I was younger—I still do!—and I always caught myself thinking that I wanted to be able to put words together just as smoothly as the author. I’ve experimented a lot with my writing, trying to find the style that fit me. Even now, I’ve been trying all sorts of styles because it’s fun to see what I can do with it. However, I’ve found that writing in a more casual tone flows the best for me.

It also helps to keep a personal journal. That’s actually where I can review the evolution of my writing. I started writing in a diary when I was 8 years old. At that time, I wrote maybe just one or two sentences everyday (what could I really write about as an 8 year old?). As I got older and read more books, whenever I wrote in my journal I was trying to emulate the writing style of the author of the books I enjoyed the most. I also wrote a lot of fan fiction (stories about what you’d like to happen to your favourite book/movie/TV show character, just an FYI for those that don’t know) and my own made-up stories.

These techniques helped me a lot with my growth as a writer. I just had fun with my writing. They may be helpful for you as well!

Still not sure about your own personal style? Doesn’t matter; just keep writing! You won’t grow your skills if you don’t continue to work on it. In time, your own style will form itself and you’ll find that writing has become second nature for you. When the words are flowing out, don’t stop and think about correcting grammar; you can re-read your work and make any necessary changes at the end. As in the words of a favourite Ice Queen: let it go!

The way you have expressed your thoughts in this post is beyond perfection.
I have been patiently practicing my writing so I can somehow help my readers find what they are looking for. I know it takes time but I've realized it is possible.
Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for sharing Krystle

I love that writing has that power, don't you?

Yes, this is something I really have to work on! I've never written anything much in my life. I'm a tool guy.

I'm sure your stuff will be great once you've found your flow! =)

According to Hemingway, first drafts are crap. After you get through that you can build a masterpiece!

So true!

create!

yes!

So true! We're all creative whether we've realized it yet or not. We're often simply too afraid of trying.

I'm sure everyone is capable of coming out with awesome content once they can conquer their fear.
