The Niche Thing
Yes, I am stuck here. Have been since the start. It is frustrating to know there are so many websites, blogs, lenses and articles written about the same thing. How can I ever expect mine to be any better, funnier or unique than the others? I am sure there are no "empty niches" out there, unless I make one up.
Hmmm. I may have to consider that.
Meanwhile, I did get my first, complete lens done. It is a simple one but I just wanted to learn how to put one together. Useful to know when I finally figure out what I am going to focus on.
Think I will do some more research. Again.

Good, solid advice-thank you for taking the time to look at and critique it! I am going to make some changes, as suggested, in the next week. Then, I think I will let it sit for awhile while I pursue other WA endeavors and see if I gain an audience...
I just looked at your lens and it looks pretty good. Good job!
It's pretty easy to scan, but there are a couple of really big paragraphs you could split into a couple of smaller ones (like the one in The Nanny section).
And you've got a nice down-to-earth communication style. It feels very friendly and I like that.
Just looking down through your lens, this stuff popped out at me:
(1) Mac Laptops
I would like to get a Mac laptop myself, but I've never owned a Mac. I've heard they're great, but I'm not sure about the software.
I've also heard Macs can run PC software with an emulator, but I don't know how that works or if only a few programs are compatible.
And how good is Apple's tech support?
So you might want to do some research and see if there's a niche here for "PC users who want to switch to a Mac".
You might also want to consider niches like "running a small business with a Mac" and "how to make great videos with a Mac".
(2) Kitchenaid Food Processor
I hate cooking, but I love great food. Surely there are a bunch of gadgets out there that I could get to save time in the kitchen.
I'm thinking of stuff like The Magic Bullet, the George Foreman Grill, and the GT Xpress 101.
(By the way, I own the George Foreman Grill and the GT Xpress 101. And a friend of mine has a Magic Bullet. I want it! lol)
I would love a cookbook that shows me how to make really tasty dishes using all of these tools together.
Maybe you can create one? Or find one to market?
Oh, and I would love a cookbook on how to make tons of tasty stuff in my crockpot.
And I'm a guy ... if you could show me how to do it with videos ...
(3) A Nanny
Hey, how do you become a nanny and start earning money? Or how do you start a daycare? I'm sure there are people out there that want to know.
And how do you hire the right nanny so your kids don't end up getting abused? Or choose the right daycare? I'm sure there are parents out there that would love to know this.
(4) A Personal Chef
How do you become a successful personal chef? I bet you there's a lot of chefs who would love to work for themselves without all the stress of a restaurant.
(5) A Man Cave
Damn, your man cave sounds good. How about a guide to creating the ultimate man cave? Complete with affiliate links, of course.
(6) A Housekeeper
So how do you make extra money as a housekeeper? Or start a cleaning company? I bet there are people out there who want to know.
I hope that will give you some niche ideas, Kristen.
I'd start working on your next niche while you keep learning. Your second Squidoo lens will go much quicker now that you know how to use it. Good luck, Kristen!
