What Keeps You Going?

Most of the time we think about what got us started on our online business journey, whether it be financial freedom, or spending more time with friends and family.

We're excited, we're motivated. We feel like we could write ten posts a day forever.

But sometimes you hit a wall......I hope I'm not the only one who's been there.

When you don't think you can write another single word or when the income is not coming in as fast as you would have hoped, what keeps you going?

What makes you decide to write that next post when you would rather just give up? For me it's my little ones. It's the dream of being able to leave a legacy for them and the option for them to be able to do whatever they want in the future, never having to worry whether they'll be able to take advantage of any opportunity that comes there way.

So what helps keep you going?

A better future for my family.

Same here. My family gets me out of the bed in the morning. Don't ever want to let them down!

Keep them motivated thanks, for sharing.

Thanks!

If you don't build your dream then some one else will hire you to build theirs

That's what keeps me going

I love how you put that. I want to be the one doing the dreaming!

I guess hope is what keeps me going and not wanting to quit. I know that I'm making slow and steady progress and sometimes need to remind myself of this when I feel ready to throw in the towel.

Completely agree!

Unfortunately, as a freelancer, I never had the opportunity to build up a retirement pension, and I am 56 now, so I have 10 years to go and work for an additional income. That keeps me going. The government pays less every year to the elderly, so probably I have to live of €750 a month. That is not how I planned my retirement. I want to travel.

You still have time to build up at least a small retirement pension. With a bit of research I'm sure you can find updated information. There are a few sites online about freelancers' retirement pension.

It sounds like you're attacking your retirement plan and I'm sure by the time that you're ready to retire and travel, you will have built your empire. If your role as an Ambassador is any indication you're already well on your way!

I am aware of those sites Brendie, I do not earn a stable income to start a retirement fund

If 10 year blogging doesn't do the trick.... :)

Well, that sucks. There should be a company that would be willing to work with freelancers that don't have a stable income.

No, we are outlawry :(

For me, my why is the peace of knowing that I will not have to punch a clock one day. So that i can show my kiddos how to have a business of their own without having to have a ton of money to operate and start. Also to have the ability to start a business quickly. To have the income coming in to cover my monthly bills and not have the worry about not having enough.

I am so there with you. I want my little ones to know that there is something other than the traditional route of working for someone else. I figure if they learn early in life, they'll have so many more options when they grow up!

I hope you can give up the time clock one day soon!

My pets! A cat and a dog.

Aww. I have a dog. She definitely helps to keep me going. Do your pet babies get along?

No. My cat is 8 years old & used to being the only pet. I adopted my dog (pup! always a pup!) earlier this year. He is two years old. My dog whines at the cat, wags his tail, wants to be friends. My cat is not having any of it. She attacks his kennel when he is in it. Hisses at him. Glares at him from a distance.
I tell my cat to get over it, not getting rid of the dog.
Tell my dog, you need to calm down and let her come to you.

The joys of sibling rivalry. You just have to let your puppy know that dogs come when they're called where cats take a message and get back to you when they're ready!

Hopefully she'll come around one of these days!

I keep hoping she will! Actually, Baby Girl will come when I call her, if I am in the bedroom area (her domain). If Buddy is in his kennel I can get her to come out part of the time. My cat knows a few words (commands) from her kitten days.

Wow! I had a cat a few years ago and she was definitely one who did things on her own time. It was her world and I was there simply to meet all her needs :)

Oh, it's still her world. She is still the boss. But, as a kitten she learned 'come', 'outside', 'snack', 'go home' (she used to follow me down the street), her name, and 'toy'.
When I lived in the other town I used to tell her 'come'. She'd come running & I'd pick her up and carry her home in one arm. She'd be sitting there looking around. I still carry her like that so she can look at all the stuff that is up high.
At the old house downtown, I used to ask her 'front door or back door'. She'd stop & think. Then pick a door she wanted to go out of.
Despite all this, she is still her own cat. Full of personality. Gets her way.

I love those stories! Sounds like you all have had quite and adventurous 8 years together!

Here is a couple more stories (time to take pup out for a walk):
At mom's old house she'd try to open the screen doors to come back in, then start meowing. I can't hear her, she has a quiet meow, but mom would hear her and let her back in.
At the old house downtown, I had a recliner next to the front door. She'd watch me open the screen door. It had a latch lock. She learned how to use it. She would jump on top of the recliner. Slap at that lock until it opened. Then jump off the recliner and run full speed ahead at that screen door (it would get stuck). Then roll around on the cement out front.
Both cats and dogs do learn by watching us...

Food and sleep. :)

I love it. Sometimes it's just the simple things right? It's amazing what a great night's sleep will do for you!

I find myself guilty of not getting enough of those at times :)
