I have not used the colormag theme, but it seems quite similar to other magazine style themes.
You should look into where you edit the layout of the front page. Hopefully, somewhere there you will find that a content block has placed itself above main content and below header.
Or it can be the slider that is not completely configured. And depending on the theme and what sliders are used, the admin of the slider may be placed somewhere else in the Wordpress menu.
Can you help with blog layout for colormag theme?

Check your front page widgets. It looks like you've got TG Featured Posts or TG Highlighted Posts widgets in there.

When I add my posts to google plus, do you recommend creating "collections" to upload the posts, or just keep the post in the public category and ignore the collections?
Yes, Collections are quite important with the new G+ layout. Focus on a specific niche in each collection that you create. I'm sure you have lots of varied interests. Each can become a collection.

I'm logged in and searching through about and other general setting sections but I still am not sure where to find the URL to share with the community. Thanks!
So that I can share the G+ Account here is a sample of someones they shared... https://plus.google.com/u/0/115319504244189472562
So what do you want to do is to click on your Google+ Icon (Top Right) and click on "Google+ Profil" your link should be in the URL bar that looks like : https://plus.google.com/u/0/116936446649153029141
I don't if that's what you wanted but that's the best I can do.
As Genius said - If you click on your image on your google plus account you will see a box popup. In that box you will see a link for G+Profile.
Click that link and a page will open.
On the address bar on your browser a new link will appear which will have plus.google.com followed by /u/0/21 digit number.
Copy this whole link including the https and that is your full G+ Profile link that you can share around.
It's quite a long link so you may want to shorten using goog shortner or bit.ly
Especially if you are going to share on twitter where character space is limited

I am attempting to categorize new posts into the specific page they relate to . For example, I just categorized a new post from today into "love", but when I click on the page
You need to add the category "Love" to your menu not an empty page Drop Down Drag and Drop Menu With Custom Links and Non-Clickable Headings
