Mini-devotion for Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, Matthew 9: 35-37, KJV, "And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;" Jesus was able to see a vision of a plentiful harvest. He saw the multitudes and, seeing their needs, He was moved with compassion for them. In the days in which we are living, are we able to see the need for a harvest? Not only did Jesus observe the plentiful harvest, He noticed a lack of workers to harvest the crops. There were those who could work in the Kingdom of God, but they were not going out into the highways and hedges and compeling folks to hear and respond to the Good News. The same scenario exists today. There is a world full of people who need to hear the gospel, many of whom have not heard that message even once. I challenge you, and I challenge myself to open our eyes to the cries of need that surround us. May the cry of our hearts be, "Here am I, Lord. Send me."
