Your Attitude determines your Altitude

So what type of day are you having?

Are you bummed out because you overslept? or you couldn't sleep and you're up way too early? You slept wrong and your neck is stiff? You just don't feel like going to work? Losing patience with the kids? As much as you love the person you're caring for, sometimes it's just hard......I can go on and on and on.

We all have bad days. Some of us have just dreaded getting out of bed. I also say we have good reason to feel that way. Life is hard. Sometimes we get blindsided by tragedy or trauma or just a bad day when everything goes wrong. What are we going to do about it?

I've met people here who are disabled, sick, one just had a stroke, and I look at what these people have done. Their attitude has gotten them through difficult circumstances and they are doing very well. Sometimes we want to throw a big pity party. If we do, invite yourself, have at it for a minute or two and shake the dust off, wipe the tears off, blow your nose and look in the mirror, point to that person and encourage him or her and say "this too shall pass."

My point is I want to exemplify that attitude of those who really go through tough times and make it, people on this site... I want to fly high. I'm not a month old here, but I've met some great people. Some have admitted how they have really stepped out of their comfort zone. "BRAVO" For every step, even if it's a baby step, just move forward. Try to do something today you couldn't do yesterday.

As you well know, life isn't fair. You have a right to mourn, weep, and be angry. There's a season for that. It's what we do after that, that determines whether we sink or swim. I read your profile. I admire you for what you have been through and what you are doing, kudos to you. Treasure the memories, and make new ones with the grandchildren.

YUP...so true the title of your blog and love how you closed it by saying "do something today you couldn't do yesterday" now that will keep things moving forward and as long as we are moving forward, not standing still, we won't loose our ground. Altitude, yup, that's what I'm reaching for.

Keep smiling, its so good for the heart.

Linda

Yeah Jim you hit the nail square on the head, very uplifting, Keep it going!!! So encouraged!! daniel

Great blog well written and very motivational. Excellent work. Keep it up.

After being in recovery form alcoholism and being sober now for over 10 years I can tell you that attitude is everything
This is my favourite saying

Poor me
Poor me
poor me
Pour me a drink

First of all congrats for your being sober 10 years. I may take you up on your offer from your profile. I'm having a terrible time getting images to the right file on my iPad. My desktop died. Once I'm over this hurdle I'll be able to move much faster because I have time to put into WA. So cheers ( with our root beer, or whatever) to getting over this hurdle.

I'm a complete rookie when it comes to this

The difference between a glass half full and a glass half empty is attitude! Great post! Thanks Jim.

Larry

Thank you Larry, I appreciate that

Great post, keep up yr good work work, Jim!! :)

You said it right "say "this too shall pass."

Yes, life goes on ... we are the tough people ... Tough times never last but tough people do ...

Thank you

Attitude, in it's purest definition, simply means "outlook".
What's your outlook? Does it serve you? Or does it drain you? Thes are important questions to consider, and I'm thankful you're bringing out the point that no one should be a victim.

You definitely can't be a victim and run a successful business- just doesn't happen.

Thank you Fred, I never used those words, but that mentality is too common. So many can either say "poor me" or "I'm outta here"

Great post Jim!! Love it and it's very inspiring!

Challenges are not things that are in the way of our goals and our success, they are things that are ON the way to achieving them!
We are either a victim or we are free... Never both and to think we can live a life without challenge or setbacks is delusional :)
A strategy I have found that helps manage our own personal state and ability to grow through the challenge is to find gratitude in the challenge, set back, or circumstances etc.

Thank you for sharing this my friend and I'm loving your altitude ;)

So true Rohan, a challenge is something we can be victorious at

Very inspirational post Keymanmd, nicely put.

Thank you Chris
