To become successful on whatever you set yourself to accomplish, you firstly have to be focused on pre-determined goals and not let anything distract you from this path.

Whether or not you realise it there are certain activities that we unwittingly participate in. These activities more than often will have a detrimental effect on our productivity.

We all have been guilty at sometime of involving ourselves in these activities, so let's bring them out in the open and expose them for what they are - Productivity Killers.

Irrevelant Internet Browsing

We all use the internet for our business, but how many times have you found yourself browsing the internet for no reason at all. I know it's very easy to start browsing and searching for information, but you must be disciplined enough to only search for what you are looking for and not be sidetracked by browsing totally irrelevant information.

Reading Emails Constantly

Now tell me you don't do this, but constantly checking your email inbox is probably the worst time killer of all.

I know we all like to receive emails because it makes us feel wanted, but to keep checking every 2 minutes is certainly a big no no.

To avoid checking emails every 2 minutes, designate a certain time during the day to read, action or delete emails whichever is applicable.

Mobile Phones

Here's another massive productivity killer. Checking your mobile phone for missed calls or text messages all the time can easily distract you from your main activity. As with emails allocate a time during the day to respond to the missed calls or text messages.

You'll suddenly realise that by time managing these tasks, they're perhaps not as important as you thought.

Social Media

Social Media can be fun and entertaining and a great way to connect with other people. However it is better served as a tool for your business as opposed to checking the photo's of last Saturdays party.

Don't fall into the trap of being distracted by constantly using Social Media for non-productive activity, but use it as a benefit to your business not a hindrance.

Focus On One Opportunity At A Time

There are plenty of opportunities both online and offline that can potentially make us a decent income should we choose. However don't make the mistake of chasing every single one that appears on the horizon.

Focus on one opportunity at a time, otherwise you will dilute yourself and not be able to give the time required to make it a success. Your success ultimately depends on you, so don't let your productivity suffer by chasing more than one opportunity at a time.

Remember focus on one at a time, make it work and them move on to the next and see your business grow.

Distractions are all around us for sure :)

I agree. I can not multitask. I have to focus on one thing at a time. If not, I will not finish anything.
