Twenty-Eighth Month of WA - All-Time Highs

I've built significant momentum that I'm hoping to continue pushing forward into December. November 2020 was a great month. I reached new all-time highs and made very substantial developments helping me expand ahead. With my schedule and productivity changes, December will only get even better.

Here's last month's post if you need a catch up: Twenty-Seventh Month of WA - Blogging More.

The November Blogging Recovery

Over the past couple of months this year, I haven't been blogging as much as I can across all my websites. I have still yet to publish another blog post on my badminton website since May, and between June and October, I was stuck publishing at max, 4 blog posts per month. And then there are all the other websites I made that I haven't worked on.

I know I'm capable of publishing a lot more. I have published daily, and I can do it again. However, when you're not blogging for quite some time, you lose a little bit of momentum and skill. I was a bit rusty after all those months of hardly writing, so I had to get my skills back.

That's what I spent my time doing in November. I tried my best to publish as much as possible with my main focus on Medium.

I published 11 blog posts on Medium in November, which is 5 times more than October. However, this isn't the highest number of blog posts I have published in one month. November helped me get back into my blogging rhythm and hopefully result in December being my highest number of blog posts published.

$15.34 On Medium

Publishing more has paid off. I broke my earnings record on Medium and earned $15.34 for November. I'm finally seeing the compounding effect blogging creates.

The last times I wrote close to 11 blog posts were the months of April and May. For those two months, I earned $5.77 and $7.81, respectively, on Medium. With only 11 blog posts for November, I broke my record.

Blogging is really just the patience and consistency game. Keep blogging consistently, and over time, you will see improvements. I'm excited to see what publishing more than 11 blog posts on Medium in December will do for me.

$28.77 Google Adsense Revenue And Finally Cashing Out

More than two years since starting my badminton blog, I finally cashed out on Google Adsense. I finally hit the $100 threshold in November by earning $28.77 on Google Adsense.

This is another example of how patience pays out for blogging. Although I admit that I haven't been consistent with my publishing on my badminton blog, my badminton blog gains authority over time and gets more traffic. With more traffic, my income grows.

One mistake I made was not continuing to work on what works. The Wealthy Affiliate strategy on finding low-hanging fruit keywords and writing blog posts on the keywords work. To continue growing, I should have focused more on these keywords and continued pushing to publish more on my badminton blog.

But it's not about what I should have done; it's about what I will do. And in December, one of my goals is to drive the number of blog posts I'm posting on my badminton blog up.

Almost Monetized On YouTube

My badminton blog is also making movements on YouTube. I published three videos on YouTube almost a year ago. Without touching my channel, it has been growing in subscribers and viewership.

My highest viewed video has over 110k views, with my second highest viewed coming in at 47k. Although I haven't hit the required 1,000 subscribers for monetization, I found out I doubled the 4,000 watch hour limit.

I was pleasantly surprised seeing these stats and realized that YouTube could add a ton to my Google Adsense revenue with these numbers.

My third goal for December is to get more videos out on YouTube and couple them with my badminton blog posts. If I can reach the 1,000 subscriber threshold and monetize my YouTube channel, that would be the best Christmas gift.

Upcoming Gaming Blog?

I helped my brother start a YouTube channel recently on gaming. He already published 8 videos, which is impressive to see from him. It's also very motivating to see my brother get so much done. Now I want to do more, not just for myself, but to help him as well.

My brother and I started the YouTube channel under the same name I used for a website I originally built to write about gaming stuff. Admittedly, I've only written two blog posts on the website. I could definitely write a lot more for the gaming blog, especially since I spend so much time on games. I actually spend more time gaming than I do playing badminton, which makes me wonder, why didn't I start a gaming blog in the first place?

Aside from personal passions, I also found that my Google Adsense revenue isn't doing as well it can with the traffic numbers I have. This is primarily due to most of my traffic coming from countries such as India, Malaysia, and Indonesia.

I was looking at my Google Adsense revenue stats one time. I noticed that the United States' income was double the income from Malaysia traffic despite Malaysia doubling the United States in viewership and having 3 clicks versus zero.

Simply put, advertisers spend more money trying to show ads to people in countries such as the United States. Badminton is not a very popular sport in the United States, hence my low number of viewers from the United States. This is also the reason I don't have much in Amazon affiliate commissions. I have my affiliate links pointed to the Amazon.com website, and One-link doesn't support countries such as India and Indonesia currently.

But what about gaming and tech?

I know the gaming and tech scene in North America is much bigger than badminton. And since I also play games for more than a few hours every day, writing about games and reviewing gaming products is a no-brainer.

And thus, my fourth goal is to write blog posts on my gaming blog.

So Much Writing, What About Time?

With all this content creation I have planned, do I have the time and energy to reach my goals? It is no secret that I often shoot for the moon and hit the ceiling of my room instead.

But I don't mind not reaching the big goals I set out because as long as I keep striving for them, I hit many small goals that fulfill me along the way.

However, the great thing about December is that I'm wrapping up my university classes for my first semester. That means there's a lot less work that I have to worry about, which translates to full focus on my blogging activities.

And having recovered most of my blogging speed and skill in November, I'm on track to write a lot more in December. I don't plan to write daily on all three blogs and create a daily video, though. The main goal is to write one blog post daily on Medium, at least once a week on my badminton and gaming blog, and create one video this month. No specific income goals this month. I just want to see what I can do.

Awesome that you will be blogging more, Kevin!

Jeff

Yep!

😎👍👍

Congrats on getting so many different revenue streams going. I do feel like you have a little bit of Shiny Objects Syndrome. Perhaps focus on one site until that's a huge success, then move on to the next and the next, and maybe wait on the gaming site. You've got so much potential, but I do suggest perhaps focusing a bit more and you'll really rock things!

Yeah, I definitely have a problem with shiny object syndrome. Narrowing my focus to only blogging should do the trick though.

Hey Kevin I like that you are regaining your blogging rhythm and reaping the benefits of patience and good old fashioned stick-to-itt-iveness. Sounds like you are rightly building your community across platforms. Hopefully you will be able to pick up your speed as you desire and hit more of your targets. Wishing you the best

Hugh

Thanks!
