Hello everyone! I hope everyone is doing well during our times of crisis. The coronavirus has definitely changed the way we operate. It's time for me to report on my blogs and see what has happened as well as talk about some of the things I'm doing going forward.

Check out my last month's post to catch up: Nineteenth Month of WA - Making Things Click

Let's jump into the stats.

March Stats - A Huge Mix-Up

There's a huge mix of good and bad happening. The first blog that I ever created started March really strong, but has since fallen into a slump due to coronavirus. Yet as we're nearing complete shutdown in my city, I have blogs that are growing extremely fast.

Unlike last month, there were small dips almost everywhere this month. Part of the reason is due to my lack of content. I didn't produce any new content, so of course, the website is going to remain stagnant and gradually lose traffic.

On Medium, I wrote a blog post about how coronavirus was affecting my badminton blog. Here's a quick summary.

Currently, with the majority of badminton courts and tournaments shut down, people are unable to play badminton. My blog is focused on helping people get better at badminton. With no tournaments or the ability to play, people don't have the motivation to get better.

I could be writing blog posts giving tips on training at home, and analyzing professional players. Still, it seems like efforts spent on other tasks such as writing on other blogs are more profitable, as I will talk about in another section.

This is the first blog I ever created on Wealthy Affiliate. Perhaps it's time to heed the advice of some of the more prosperous members here on WA and accept that I'm not necessarily meant to succeed on my first try.

I won't close down the Get Good At Badminton blog. However, I will take a hiatus and shift my focus to other tasks.

Medium:

Stats:

  • Number of Posts Written: 14
  • Reads: 352
  • Followers: 221
  • Partnership Earnings: $9.45

I'm really making things click on Medium. This is what I mean by there are more worthwhile tasks to do than write on my Get Good At Badminton blog.

Last month I talked about how I bought a course to learn the inner workings of the Medium platform and how to succeed in it. I learned a lot about publishing to publications and curation. I was able to publish six articles to various publications, and I got one post curated.

Amazingly, six months of writing on Medium has landed more success than my badminton blog, which has been up for almost two years. Plus, for four of those six months, I wasn't even writing effectively on Medium.

As I continue to write and figure out how to succeed through Medium, I will share my journey through the platform.

I Got A WA Referral?

Today, I woke up and I was super surprised when I opened up Wealthy Affiliate. On my affiliate dashboard icon, two notifications were telling me that I had two new tasks. I found out that I had received my first starter referral.

Congratulations @EDUARD13! You are my very first starter referral who has completed account setup.

But honestly, I had mixed feelings about this. Usually, I should be ecstatic, but I wasn't ready. I haven't been working on my Wealthy Affiliate website (that I created back when I just joined WA) for months. I wanted to create a bunch of bonuses and become successful on other blogs before I started actively promoting WA.

If things went according to plan, I could help the people I refer much better as I'll actually have the experience of going from nothing to something.

But like always, things never go according to plan, and it looks like it's time for me to adapt. So, for next month, expect to see work done around my website in the MMO niche.

Did My New Productivity Strategy Work?

Another thing I need to follow up on is the new productivity strategy I talked about in my last month's post.

Last month, I talked about how I felt like I got a lot done despite not reaching any of the goals I set. So I wanted to try not setting any goals and just blogging because I wanted to.

And as you can tell in some of the stats, I failed quite miserably. I didn't create any content for Get Good At Badminton and wrote fewer blog posts for Medium than last month.

I often felt distracted and brain-lagged, as well. Sometimes I was sitting in my chair, not knowing what exactly I have to do in my day. I was definitely less productive than I could have been.

It looks like setting goals or creating a schedule is something I need to do. Otherwise, I have no idea what I'm supposed to be doing at certain times. However, simply putting down what I want to accomplish this month is not very effective either.

For April, I decided to try something new. I created a schedule where I will focus on one subject for a specified period.

For example:

  • Writing on Medium: 1 hour
  • Blogging on site in MMO niche: 1 hour
  • Posting on social media: 1 hour

Instead of telling myself, "I will get X done," I will just do an activity for a certain amount of time. Whatever I get done during that time is whatever I get done.

Hopefully, this strategy will keep me organized and allow me to get more done without the pressure of feeling like I'm not accomplishing my goals.

Stay safe and be productive everyone! Let me know how things have been going for you in the comment section down below!
