Thirty-Fifth Month of WA - The Craziest Month Yet

Wow. June 2021 might have just been the craziest month of my life. My life just took a radical shift out of nowhere. I got offered a job, my blogging efforts are starting to pay off, and I'm now in Toronto working on my first assignment. It's absolutely crazy what happened in June alone.

I had planned to write this update much earlier, but I've been so exhausted with everything that I was doing and didn't have the energy to write anything. I was in meetings, calling people, emailing people, and showing the super big condo we're auctioning every day from 7 AM until often past midnight.

But it's a Sunday now, and most of the real estate brokerages here in Toronto are closed. And I'm under the presumption that most people are taking a break, so I figured, let me write this blog post now.

Of course, here's last month's post if you missed it: Thirty-Fourth Month of WA - Discipline Unlocked

10 Different Jobs?

Okay, not really. Now that I think about it, maybe.

If you read some of my previous blog posts, you'll know that I had been becoming a real estate agent and was in the process of getting the license.

Well, a few days after I became a fully licensed Realtor, my mentor called me and asked me if I was interested in becoming a Project Manager for Concierge Auctions.

Without even looking at what the job entails, I said yes. As a new 18-year-old real estate agent, I was jumping at every opportunity to make connections, gain more experience working in real estate, and of course, make money.

At the time, I thought that I would be someone sitting around making sure everything was okay for $20 per hour.

Oh boy, I was wrong.

My mentor introduced me to some of the managers at Concierge Auctions. Apparently, my mentor had propped me up in some way in the background as everyone was eager to meet me and get me into the company.

I learned that being a Project Manager for Concierge Auctions was all about bringing as many strong bidders as possible to successfully auction whatever property you're assigned to within about 3-6 weeks.

And if I'm successful, I get paid usually a five-figure commission, but occasionally six figures depending on the property's selling price. Additionally, I get paid a couple of thousand dollars to cover my travel expenses as this is a job that pulls you all over the place.

That's why I'm in Toronto now. I got called in from Calgary to auction a 7,000 sqft waterfront condo.

The craziest part is how confident the company is in me. I completely skipped the training assignment where I was supposed to tag along with another Project Manager to learn what I was supposed to do.

I went straight to my first assignment and had no idea what I was supposed to be doing, so I've been working twice as hard to really get things done. I will work even harder to rise and exceed the expectations the company has set for me.

Life-Changing Money From Blogging

Unfortunately, I will have to revoke my Realtor status with the new job by the beginning of next year. I will still have the real estate license, though, and probably will get many more licenses throughout Canada and potentially in the states.

The company wants me to focus on the job. Depending on my success, they will likely be sending me all around the world to do auctions. It's a great job. I basically get paid to travel and make friends.

But I'm also committed to building successful online businesses and blogs. Although I have been slow on my own WordPress sites, I have been plugging away on Medium.

For the first time in my life, I consistently published one blog post every single day for an entire month. And it paid off.

I've earned the highest I ever earned in one month on Medium at $652.85 USD.

A lot of the success came down to luck, though. I wrote this one blog post randomly about my experience switching to an Apple laptop, and it has nearly 10k views.

It helped me earn $152.85 that month from Medium. That post actually pushed me into the top 1,000 writers on Medium, and I got another $500 bonus from Medium.

I used to write a lot of these posts talking about how I earned $20 or something. Every time I would say that it was not a lot of money, but it was something.

I was about to say that again now, but I realized that $652.85 USD was actually a reasonable sum of money for the situation that I was in.

I had been so caught up in talking about millions of dollars due to the nature of my job that I forgot $652.85 USD was how much I was making in my part-time job before.

Many people my age are desperate to get part-time minimum wage jobs that pay them a bit of spending money. Here I was making that money from blogging.

It seemed like a one-time thing, though. But that's okay. I'll keep pushing forward and publish once every day on Medium.

Rising To The Next Level

That's all for now. I have to focus on getting this property sold. Until next time!

Great job, Kevinzshan, You have shown a flair for writing but need consistent practice to nurture it to full bloom.
Your real estate job takes so much of your time that it's become a struggle for you to find time to write.
Do you want to run your own business or do you want to work for some organization? That's a decision you will need to make in the days ahead.

For sure, thanks

How exciting! You seem to be moving right along with rhythm. Great job to your commitment.
