Thirtieth Month of WA - I Quit My Job, Now What?

The first month of 2021 is over. So much has happened in the last month and there's only going to be more in the next month. Let's jump right into my review of January 2021.

As always, here's last month's post if you're interested: Twenty-Ninth Month of WA - Happy 2021!

Total Earnings: $19.70 USD + $12.90 CAD

In January 2021, I earned $19.70 USD from Medium and $12.90 CAD from Google Adsense. While 30ish dollars isn't that much, it does pay for various monthly subscriptions, which is much better than when I was earning less than $10 from everything.

If I'm going to be honest with myself, I didn't do too much. I published 15 blog posts on Medium this month and zero blog posts on the site generating the Google Adsense revenue. Those numbers allowed me to break another record on Medium by a few cents. Unfortunately, however, my Google Adsense revenue has been steadily dropping.

I do want and need to change how things are.

I Quit My Job, Now What?

Around the beginning of December 2020, I told my employer that I'd be resigning at the end of January 2021. And now that my last day at my part-time job has passed, what's next?

Quitting my part-time job was a gamble. My part-time job was funding all my online business activities. My businesses' current earnings are not enough to support themselves. However, by quitting my job, I am gaining time, which is more precious than money.

I quit my job, anticipating that the time I gain to work on my online businesses will be worth much more than the minimum wage salary that I was paid. You see, I have the link to my Wealthy Affiliate profile bookmarked. That's how I access my Wealthy Affiliate dashboard. Every time I open Wealthy Affiliate, I see my goals listed down. It always bugs me that I haven't hit any of my dreams, especially the time I'm willing to invest to achieve my goals option.

I told myself that I was willing to invest approximately 6-8 hours every day, but I never did that. What happens if I do?

I often tell people such as my parents that you can make money from blogging. Unfortunately, I never had the results to convince them. Now's the time for me to change that.

If I spend all the time I spend on my part-time job on my business, how much more can I make? More importantly, how much more can I learn, improve, and offer?

We'll have to see what happens.

Courses, Courses, Courses

Besides getting more done on my online businesses, I also have a billion different courses I bought that I still haven't gone through. Maybe not a billion, but it's definitely in the hundreds range.

I went too crazy with shiny object syndrome and ended up buying all sorts of random courses over the last few years. Luckily, I got a new phone around the end of December, and it didn't come preinstalled with YouTube.

I decided to make my phone a more productive machine. I vowed that I would never download YouTube on the phone. Instead, I filled my phone with the apps that my courses are on, such as Masterclass, edX, Coursera, and Udemy.

I used to have a habit where I would end up clicking YouTube and mindlessly scrolling through it if I were in bed or tired. Nowadays, I click one of my course apps and watch a course instead. Slowly, but surely, I'm finishing all the courses I bought.

My goal is to learn as much as possible from these courses to apply to my life. It would be awesome if I could share these skills through blogging as well.

One specific thing I do want to learn, though, is content related to making videos. If I can learn to produce videos consistently, that would be a huge step forward in my online business life.

Focusing On The Process

Just like last month, I'm not going to talk much about how much money I want to make. Nor am I going to talk about a specific number of blog posts I strive to write. The focus is on providing valuable content, and thus, I must become valuable myself.

My goal is to learn and do as much as I can and then share it. I'll be back soon!
