Quick Story "What's a Wealthy Affiliate?"
Earlier today I had a Skype chat with a younger fellow I met a few weeks ago who, like me, produces his own podcast, albeit for a much different audience. He's younger and more energetic than me, but we got along straight away. I remember he looked at me like I had 3 heads when I told him I edited and posted my own podcast (I will outsource it eventually, but I actually enjoy doing it).
Anyway, I reached out to him to get his perspective on some online-related stuff. And it was a nice chat. But what I found out was ... I already know a lot more than I think I do, thanks to WA.
He was surprised at my level of "vocabulary" for keywords, SEO, tagging and all of that. When I started asking him about Site Maps and Webmaster Tools, I could tell I was losing him. I realized he didn't know. He'd paid someone to design build site.
He then looked at my site and said he was impressed. He asked who designed it. I said, "Me. I did it myself." Curious how I knew these things, he asked me where I hosted my site. I told him, "Wealthy Affiliate."
He was very quiet for a moment. I just waited.
He said, "I have mine at a place called Host Gator."
I said, "Sure, I know about all those: Host Gator, Blue Host, Go Daddy, but I moved my site to Wealthy Affiliate and I couldn't be happier."
His response: "Um ... what's a Wealthy Affiliate?"
Lol. I'm not trying to put this fellow down. He was a help to me. But it was funny, seeing him react when he realized I knew a lot more than he thought I would.
And, frankly, I realized that I DO know more than I thought I did, thanks to WA.
Oh. And I explained to him what WA was. And promised to send him my affiliate link :)
Thanks for reading!

Yea, I am still in my early days, but I always think of WA as university without a degree written on some paper.
