Criticism
I got this story in my email today and thought Id share it.
One day a school teacher wrote the following on the whiteboard....
9x1=7
9x2=18
9x3=27
9x4=36
9x5=45
9x6=54
When she was finished, she looked to the students and they all began to laugh. When she asked them why, one student pointed out that the first equation was wrong. The teacher responded by saying;
I wrote that first one wrong on PURPOSE, because I wanted you to LEARN something very IMPORTANT...
THIS is how the world will treat you.... You can SEE that I wrote 5 other
RIGHT answers, but NONE of you gave me recognition for that. You all laughed and criticized me for the one wrong thing that I did
....
The world will not always appreciate the good that you do, but it will put you down for the one mistake you make.
Always choose to rise above the criticism and stay strong!
In this day and age we have lost the art of civility. Being an internet troll seems to be the "In" thing. Staying strong in the face of criical comments is an important skill. It is, by no means easy but oh so important.
One of the things I love about this community is the positive nature. Everyone is so welcoming and helpful. Its one of the reasons I spend so much time here. Its my happy place and we all need that kind of refuge at times.

I believe I've read this story before, or a version of it. Isn't interesting, generally speaking, this holds true, no matter the age, gender, nationality, etc. Perhaps we're all perfectionists at heart. Whatever the reason, I believe encouragement goes a lot further than criticism.
