The post and page look quite different in writing style, and from what I read, they seem to be unique content, even though it's on the same topic. I don't think it will be a problem. Most issues with 'duplicate content' with Google are when people copy/paste or 'spin' articles (substitute words/phrases for similar ones) to try to recycle one central piece of content.

You can write on similar subjects if it's the topic for you blog. That's OK. Just remember to keep your readers in mind.

It's my own suggestion that you should start to broaden your topics for writing after this point because you already did a home page and post on the same subject, but that's just a stylistic preference of mine, and there's no 'fact' based reason for it.
