Late Nights and Solid Content
I follow a YouTuber Lilly Singh, who goes by the name iiSuperwomanii. She has 11 million followers, over 1 billion views, has an organization (Girl Love) that has sent hundreds of women to work in Kenya, and she travels the world annually for sold out tours, branding deals, etc. She is my #1 inspiration. And here's why:
Lilly Singh is mainly a comedian, but she has a second vlogging YouTube channel where she shows you her daily life, which has not one single routine. In her vlogs you can see how hard she hustles, and how much her hustling pays off. She's all about getting work done above other priorities, like sleeping, in order to make her dreams come true instead of just dreaming them.
She oftentimes doesn't go to sleep, instead choosing to hustle, hustle, hustle. This is what mainly inspires me. That she has such ambition that her fans are begging her to go to sleep because she hustles too damn hard.
I'm someone who NEEDS their 8 hours of sleep, so for me, a late night is when I only get 7 - 6, but there's something to Lilly's hustle. If you're spending all hours of the day working to make your dreams come true, great things are bound to happen eventually, especially if you continuously put out great content.
I've been feeling particularly tired throughout this week, but instead of "sleeping it off," I've been forcing myself to hustle, hustle, hustle, just like Lilly. (Don't worry, I'm still getting my 8 hours. Well, more like 7, but whatever).
I didn't used to understand that mentality, but now that I'm working so hard on my website, YouTube channel, and personal brand, I get it. When you're ambitious, there's nothing more thrilling than the drive of hustling to get where you want to be. It's all about the journey, but you can't half-ass it. You have to go in all the time, all hours of the day, or at least that's what you get the adrenaline rush from. It's euphoric, that feeling of working hard for a dream you want to come true. And when something finally becomes of your hard work, that's the best high in the world.
I'm no Lilly Singh (yet). I don't have millions of followers and I've never left the United States, but I'm starting my hustle. I'm getting into a rhythm of working my job to ensure I have a roof over my head and food to eat, but as soon as I get home, it's hustle, hustle, hustle.
Today, for instance, I recorded a YouTube video, wrote 2 blogs posts for my website, finished a lesson on my WA training, and uploaded content relating to my brand for all 4 of my social media sites. And I did all of this within the span of 2 hours!
I'm not losing any sleep working on my dream, but with as tired as I've been this week, it certainly feels that way. (I actually have no idea why I'm feeling this tired. I'm going to drink a lot of water and see if that helps. I get dehydrated A LOT.)
To me, it's not just about the hustle, it's also about the quality of the hustle. If you're staying up late, missing sleep, but your content is something you don't believe in, then there's no point to the hustle. Your content has to be something you feel is WORTH staying up late nights to produce. That's where the high comes from when your hard work finally pays off.
As for now, I'm going to finish writing that second blog (because I haven't actually done it yet, I'm going to watch a few YouTube videos, and then it's off to bed.
