Building a website on a small computer tablet.

So, I read a lot throughout the web about building sites on tablets and tiny computers and how it is really difficult. I am here to say that before I found my iPad Pro, this was definitely difficult. I used an Asus Transformer t100, because my main computer was/is always procured by my son or wife. The main rig I used to use is an ASUS Gaming Republic with duel monitors. But alas, it is usually occupied. With this dilemma I decided to purchase another laptop/device to be able to do my work on.

After weeks and weeks of research, if you follow my posts I do A LOT of research. In fact it usually drives my wife insane because I do charts and graphs, pro and cons, etc. before I make my decision...I'm a Data Analyst by trade. But I digress, after the research I settled on two devices. The first was a Microsoft Surface Pro 4. This was a little out of my price range but had the graphics processor I needed to be able to design my own logos, images, graphics, etc. It was everything I needed and then some to really be able to make my work shine! The second was the iPad Pro with the Apple Pencil and the Zagg Slimline Keyboard. Now, being who I am, I don't normally look at Apple products. The only reason I made the switch from Android phones to an iPhone was because my wife wanted an iPhone and the phone company was offering by one get one on all new iPhone Devices. I'm sorry, but if you are offered a free $700 device you would switch too. Again, I digress. I borrowed some devices from friends to be able to get my hands "dirty" and learn more about what I was getting myself into.

After another week of playing with both devices, Surface Pro 2 and iPad Air 2, I ventured to the Verizon store to test out the iPad Pro. They brought out the Zagg Keyboard I wanted and the Apple Pencil. They then allowed me to play around with my website for a solid 30 minutes before returning to me and pestering me with sales pitches. However, I had made my decision. The Apple Pencil was more precise than the Surface Pro's pen, and the keyboard reacted better to my typing, and was more accurate with each tap of the keys than the Surface Pro(I type roughly 90 words a minute when I get going). I fell head over heals in love with the Pencil though because I was able to do mockup designs quickly and efficiently! I informed the sales rep to not waste his time pitching it because I was already sold. I don't need a person telling me what I want, I need to experience it myself...and I did just that.

Now after 2 solid weeks of really working on my site and typing up well over 5,000 words on my iPad Pro 9.7" I am happily reporting that you can, in fact, build and maintain your site from it. Granted there are draw backs without the duel monitors but that is quickly overcame. My next purchase will be the HDMI cable for it so I can use my tv alongside it.

For those that were wondering about having a tablet as their main machine I can say, with enthusiasm, that the iPad Pro is the perfect choice! The screen doesn't have the "most" real estate available but it fits my needs perfectly. You will need to overcome switching from screen to screen but when you do you are going to fly through the process!
