I lost my motivation.

So, the first week I was on this site, I was on a roll! I was trying to get through as much training as I could. I was learning so much. I was so excited! I had applied a lot of what I had learned and I actually had a site. With some content on it. Maybe not the best content, but there it was. Something! Then, I hit a motivational brick wall. Procrastination set in. I don't think I logged in for over a week. I STILL haven't added any new content to my site.

Well, today I am recommitting myself.

I think that scary word "content" is what stopped me. I think perhaps I have been paralyzed by fear. Although I'm not 100% sure what I'm afraid of. I'm not a lazy person. And I can see how this process will work if you keep at it. It's the showing up at 100% every day that I am having a hard time with. So I'm writing about it. I'm hoping that by putting it all out there, I can find a solution, or just move forward.

This process was so fun in the beginning. And isn't that how it is every time we start something new? The new diet, the new book, the new home improvement project, the new class, the new exercise routine. New always seems to equal exciting and fun. What I need to figure out is how to keep myself focused and on track after the "new" wears off.

So I open the floor to all of you, my fellow WA members. Does anyone have any advice on how to keep on keeping on? How to keep yourself motivated? What do YOU do when you start to notice that you are procrastinating? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

YES GIRL! Get back into it! I'm so happy you've decided to jump back into it. As requested, here are some creative ideas you can incorporate into your daily routine! These are things that I have personally incorporated, and my results have significantly increased.

1.) Write your goals down or type them up (and print them out) and post them on your wall. (i.e. "Create full-time wealth online," "Never have to work a real job again," "Spend my days traveling and enjoying a lifestyle of complete freedom.") When you wake up each morning, read them before you start doing anything else. After you read them, take a moment to close your eyes and truly envision what your life will look like once you accomplish your goals. I know that sounds cheesy, but you have no idea how motivating it is to physically read your goals and then envision your new life once your goals are accomplished.

2.) Simplify. 9 times out of 10, most people have way too many daily distractions in their lives that they can honestly do without. You have to ask yourself how badly you want your life to change. Ask yourself how badly you want to have financial wealth and freedom through an online business. Do WHATEVER you need to do to eliminate distractions. TV shows. Too much social time with friends. Oversleeping. etc.

3.) Write a to-do list! You should NEVER start your day without writing out a to-do list. I would advise keeping it down to the size of a single post-it. Think of the top three to five things that are most important for you to get done for the day. A list with more than five "important" items will drastically decrease the likelihood of any of them getting done. Don't bite off more than you can chew. Once you complete a task, take a pen and physically mark it off your list. There is a psychological sense of gratification at being able to mark something off of your list.

4.) Keep a daily journal or online blog about your progress. You don't have to broadcast or share this with ANYONE if you don't want. This is for YOU. It is a way of holding yourself accountable for your daily progress. You can even start out each entry with what your to-do's were for the day and then write about how you went about getting them done and what feelings/challenges/issues/successes you encountered throughout the day. Even if you didn't manage to complete anything on your to-do list, write about that too! Write about the reasons why you failed to get things done. It's sort of a creative way of scolding yourself, lol. It will give you the fuel to do better the next day, because trust me, you aren't going to want to continue writing about how you failed time and time again to get anything done. You're going to want to go back and read about how well you're doing!

There is a much longer list of things I can think of, but I'll stop here. I'm rooting for you! If you ever need any help with moving things along, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or anyone else in the WA community. I'm always here to help.

Best of luck! Now get busy! :-)

Thank you so very much AJ! I am going to start incorporating these things. I love the idea of writing about how it all went at the end of the day, even if it didn't go well and I didn't get anything done. These suggestions are pure gold. Thank you!

You're very welcome! Anytime!!! Hit me up anytime, lady!!! :-)

Kay, thanks for opening the floor on this subject. I believe this challenge to be so, for just about everyone that get's started including myself.

Your correct, it's like anything new including changing eating habits, etc. It's staying committed. That statement sounds obvious enough.

How to stay self motivated? It's focusing on why you sought Wealthy Affiliate in the first place. Keeping that reason in front of you everyday, what becoming a master internet marketer would do for you.

Imagine right now, if you mastered all the fundamental skills of an effective online marketer, what exactly would that do you? How would that change your life? What would change? How would that make you feel inside? Lifestyle?

What kind of time freedoms would you have? Who would you be spending more time with? Travel? How would you live? etc.

By effective marketer, knowing how to make money, and winning at executing marketing campaigns.

Think on these things. Reflect. Keep those reasons why in front of you every single day.

You must start scheduling daily actions on your calendar, just like at the end of each lesson, list things to act upon in WA lessons.

Get into a ritual of doing certain actions every single day. Design a routine.

Get into the habit of learning and doing. And keep building upon your WHY. Make it even more important to you.

We are starting at the right time, and the right place, WA.

If we continue to work smart and hard at mastering the fundamentals, enduring the temporary pains ignoring our life comforts and keep it moving, even when we get stuck, the sacrifice will pay off!

There is a natural law to mastering something through hard work that just seems to always pay off, in just about anything.

Lastly, where do you want to be in 10 days, 30 days, 60 days. 6 months, and a year, from now? One thing I do know, I don't want to be where I am now.

And I don't want to let time pass with no action, no change, no results, and look back and ask myself what if I did? I should of.... etc. That is the feeling I don't want to experience again. How about you?

Stay thirsty for mastery, my friend! :)

Palley, thank you so so so much for this! I could not agree with you more! You are so spot on. I think I just needed some reminders about the "why" to get my head back in the game. I also love what you said about designing a routine. I think that has always been one of my biggest issues with just about everything. I've always been a very "go with the flow" kind of person and I need to commit to having a schedule and routine if I really want to be successful. You are so right, we are in the right place and starting at the right time. I really appreciate your words. I will be rooting for your success as well.

Since I started recently developing my own routine, it feels good every day to see task completed. Lessons completed. New actions completed.

You have to also find your special seat or place to work with your laptop or whatever device you use. That special place when your in it, your brain knows, what's up. Time to go to work and take action and make it happen, kind of place.

It's working for me. You have support right here, at WA! :)

Yes, I recently got myself set up with a desk in my room. We are limited on space here but I managed to make it fit. That is a very good idea to have this space be my "in it" space. I just love that. Thanks for sharing with me.

I understand, I have my little corner with a desk, chair, laptop, and maybe some powdered green tea (Matcha) with some froth on top, and I'm ready to take action for a couple hours.

Eventually, I'll upgrade to a home office/Internet studio when it's time to harvest those marketing fruits! :)

Same here! Well when we look back in a year on this conversation we will have to have a conference call, drink some Matcha, and celebrate our success!

That's what I'm talking about!! :) Stay hungry my friend.

Hello Kaytiswift, At least you can express yourself... I suppose the WA $47/mo (or whatever it is) is my motivation... So I opted for the yearly option, which means I'm only paying $29/mo now... I've been selling on eBay (dropshipping) for two years and wow, it's a lot of work... Adding new items, relisting older items, checking prices and availability, working with buyers complaints, etc... I think this business model is a workable, doable, money maker... Attract interested buyers, send them off to suggested vendors, let the vendors handle all the hassles and I get the commission for my efforts... Cool, eh? Ok, put it this way - YOU are the owner, operator, and CEO of your home based business... Now the question is are you a good loyal and faithful employee as well? Are you earning your (potential) pay? If not, fire yourself and move on to something else... Otherwise, enter in to a motivational event (hey, like this one) - Get 'er Dun - Best Wishes from Danielll

Thank you Daniel! I appreciate your feedback on this. I really do need to treat myself like an employee and hold myself to those kinds of standards.

Congrats on getting back into it! I know exactly what you mean, the same thing happened to me earlier this spring when finals got busy for me. Even months after graduation I lost some motivation. Just have to remember to keep giving it your 100% and it will pay off. "Do what most won't today, so you can do what most can't tomorrow"

Best of luck to you!

Thank you Matt. I just love that quote. I think I'm gonna post that somewhere I will see it a lot!
