Gone Fishing

I think I'm in danger of becoming a little obsessed with my website and developing my business...or at least my daughter thinks so. She's living with me at the moment, while she attends college, and leaves the house at 7am each day to catch the train into the city, never returning before 7pm each evening. The other day as I was working on my blog post she passed by my office and set a mug of coffee in front of me on her way out of the door. That evening when she returned, I was still sat in front of my laptop, surrounded by books I'd collected from the library for my research and my fingers pounding away at the keys as I logged up another thousand word post.

She asked me how my day had been and as I stretched and followed her into the kitchen to taste one of the pain au chocolats she had made at her patisserie course that day, I bubbled with excitement about my blog posts and the comments I had received on my site.

She shook her head and told me to take a break, get out of the house and do something that involved no electronics or internet.

So, the next day I went fishing!

I'm not a natural and I've only ever been fishing about 5 times in my whole life, but I've watched other people and kinda have an idea of what to do. So, I asked a friend to meet me at the lake and we hired a boat and some fishing gear and motored out into the center where we cast our lines, opened a can of beer each and sat back to wait for a fish to bite.

We waited.

And, waited some more.

As the wind changed direction and began to blow cold over us, we decided to call it a day and head for home. It was as I was reeling in my line that I felt it catch on something. I tugged, the line didn't move. I tugged harder and finally it gave way and shot to the surface. To my amazement, I saw a Flathead dangling from the hook. It had not taken the bait but rather had been swimming past as I'd reeled in my line...the hook was caught in its tail. I felt like a cheat as I lifted it out of the water, but sometimes the end justifies the means and lightly fried and served with a salad it gave me plenty of brain food for the following day to work on a new blog post.

The non believers just don't get it.

Then again we can become super focused to the extent, that the people around us find it a little unnatural.

Stepping back from the screen, and taking a break can work wonders in the creativity stakes.

Everyday is a good day for fishing

Sometimes a break is needed for sure. That recharging assists us more in our overall health, yet it also serves to give us new ideas with a fresher mind. A win Win!

Fishing sounds like the perfect way to take a break.
Have a fantastic Friday,
Mickey

Oh how I need a day of fishing. If I wasn't such a wimp. LOL It has been way too cold here to even consider it. Loved reading your post and I think I am on that obsessed train myself. Although, I may make myself take a break tomoorow. Sounds like your break paid off.
