Looking Back, to Keep Looking forward.
How many times have you ever really thought about the past?
Your past!?
They say, "Learn from your mistakes!"
How do you do that? Especially if you don't look back at your life & remember, really try to remember those things, that, well, they make you, YOU!
I was replying to a post before, thinking about what my life, & what it would be like if, I would have been able to break into this industry back when I first attended TAFE, over a decade ago.
Then I thought about the last 3 decades. Basically, that's how long we've really had our trusted PC's around, when you think about it. Even the PC itself, has been through quite the transformation.
How did we ever live without them?
Life... It definitely was a whole lot slower! More simplified!
A time when you had time to spare... You weren't looking at one screen or another - from TV, to PC, to Phone!
Even to look at how much, within the last decade, how much we rely on our devices. I don't know about you, but, I am TOTALLY lost without my mobile. Gone are the days when I HAD to remember a phone number. I can't remember my current, ten digit landline number, however, I am able to recall my (now passed) Grandmother's number from 20 years ago. 357 5165, yes that was even before they put the extra number in to make it: 3357 5165. Mind you, I haven't actually dialed that number, or even called it in the last, wow, it's been over 17 years.
Time really does fly!
Blink, and it's gone!
Maybe we should stop... Slow down... Actually take a good look around us, once in a while? See what's going on around you.
My life's vastly different, to that same age of my parents. They didn't know what a computer was, they didn't even have a TV when they were kids. Now I know that's something my children take for granted. My mother rode a horse to school, after milking the cows first. Me, I was driven by car. Only cow milking I did was, school holiday time, going out to the family farm at Christmas. Yes, I did have to work on it, learnt to drive a tractor & plant a few potatoes too.
It's amazing to think about how much our lives have changed. Eg: My youngest son, A, just asked if he could play on the wii. I definitely didn't grow up with one of those. From after breakfast we had to create our own fun & entertainment, outside the house. Computer Games were popular after I had grown.
I wonder what the next 10 - 20 years will look like?
Will we finally have the illusive 'Hover Board' from the 'Back to the Future' franchise, as promised for 2015?
Today's the 31st of December 2015. I don't want to be looking back on the next decade & have regrets at all. I am giving this opportunity to create a new attitude in myself, to make sure I take this to the highest level, to the best of my ability.
I hope that you, can be the best you, you can be, without any regrets.
Best of luck with all your dreams,
K. :-)
