Asking for inputs

Dear dear WA community,

So it has been a good time learning to create websites and I have bee enjoying the process. In this process I realize that I do not want to do affiliate marketing for others products instead I want to create my content and products and spread them wide.

I still do want to learn the inside job of traffic and conversion.

What I really want is to create training videos and audio of yoga and guided meditation, along with peer to peer counseling/ consultation business.

What route would you suggest? They are so many video training here and I don't know which ones are specifically geared towards what I am looking for. And I don't have daily time to watch through all these videos.

For someone with my intention...how would you suggest I move forward? I am quite illiterate on online marketing other than what I learned here and I am intrigued by the material here but I do not have the time or the resource to be a premium member to just watch stuff that I won't use.

I want to streamline my time here at WA to fulfill my vision.

Anyone in similar situation or any wise, creative genius ideas?

Much Appreciated.

Penpa

Hello Penpa,
It may be that I should not comment as I have yet to open my own web-site. If I understand affiliate marketing at all, then I would say having your own products to market would be highly desirable. Whether these products are physical such as a hand tool or informational is not important. What is important is getting traffic to your site and its' content. You want the affiliates to help you earn revenue through commissions and ultimately you want to become an affiliate of others. We are promotional vehicles for ourselves and other businesses. Our web-sites and efforts provide additional advertising and wide exposure for our affiliates and in turn the same can happen for us. Let's say you create a beautiful and melodic web-site to explain and enhance the practice of Yoga and Meditation in their contribution to the search for understanding. Let us say further that, you have Amazon (and I'm not pushing anything here) as an affiliate. I come to your web-site and am enthralled by the experience and to satisfy my interests I go to Amazon from your web-site and buy some books on the art of Yoga and Meditation. While I'm at it I also buy a big screen T.V., a drill press and a computer. You get a commission on all because the sale can from your site. There is more and you want to do this. This is this is the fuel to propel your dreams.

Video, oh boy, this is intense. Your niche is a natural for video and maybe cannot be done well without video. There are people on WA who have video blogs not to mention "U tube." In the U.S. the Cable Networks are required by law to provide air time for free to videographers on Public Broadcasting, the caveat is that it cannot be used for commercial purposes. You can get a variety of information from these sources and others (and if you are here, you could get your own weekly show).

I'm going to be using video on my web-sites and I would urge caution on your part. This can become expensive. I'm not saying don't do it but, understand it in depth first. Do your research. My suggestion to you is to start scripting and storyboarding your video ( It will be the first of many for your site and you will use this knowledge constantly). It is difficult to fill a time slot with content. When you see a slick, well done presentation your looking at a timeline measured in seconds. No element of time is wasted not only for costs but to keep the attention of your audience.

When you have done your scripting and storyboarding make a small stage (another topic to study) and setup your lighting (opps another topic for study) get a video camera ( I think many of the "smart phones" have them) of some sort and start production to get your feet wet. You can do this fairly quickly and the knowledge you gain will aid your efforts greatly. I'm not trying to make this difficult, you can do this. I'm just trying to give you some direction. If I understand your fantasy ( understand I'm not making light of your endeavor. Fantasy is the rocket fuel of all design.), then I know you want to do it well.
Best,

Ed

Hi Ed, Thank you so so much for taking the time to write such a good comment. You gave me lot to think about. I think I was stuck thinking that I will end up promoting products I don't believe in, etc but you are right I would gladly promote books, yoga and deeper self-improvement related products gladly. So thank you sowing that seed in my head.

And you are right about the learning curve in video-making, story-board and the rest sounds like a lot of work but also very productive...so I might just getting into it right away.

Thank you for your invaluable inputs.

Greetings, gratitude and Best Wishes to you.

Hello Penpa,

I am not far enough advanced to be able to give you a straight answer.... Sorry !!

However, I have seen resources before that allow you to create videos which may be of some use to you. Try doing a google search with "free video making tools" and see what you get,
OR
wait for a better answer from someone who knows what they are talking about.

Sorry my girl, but my knowledge about the subject is very limited.

Good luck.
