The Comments Thread - It's a Good Thing!
Do you use the comments thread on this platform? I want to state why I think it's a good thing.
Comments are Good for Our Websites
Yes, we all know about getting noticed by search engines through comments, but I've been thinking - uh, oh! - a little deeper than that.
What I've realized through comments I've received is that it is making me a better writer. I've had some comments that have pushed me...in a positive way. They have (1) given me the opportunity to clarify myself through questions posed, and (2) help me see that I need to be more clear when writing. It's so easy to get caught up in what we know and think makes sense to others that we're sometimes not clear enough.
Side note: Our dear friend Janie is awesome at leaving comments. She's one of those I referenced above. Her comments are exciting and thought-provoking. I'm striving to be more like her when leaving comments.
We're Helping Others
Isn't that what we're supposed to do? Lend a hand. Yes, I do give and take on the comment thread...that's what it's there for. But we can leave comments even if we're not seeking any in return. I'm sure some of you are well enough established that you don't need to solicit comments here, but how about helping out someone new.
It Will Broaden Your Horizon
I am learning so much from reading the posts of others. Just today I learned of a new type of diet. Doesn't mean I'll follow it, but I did learn something new. It is hard sometimes to leave quality comments if you don't know anything about the topic, so I'll sometimes google terms to get a better understanding so it looks like I at least halfway know what I'm saying.
This really made me think that I am helping myself by helping others. I'm learning about more than building my own website in my own little world.
I've also learned about the benefits of Turmeric and been exposed to some nice products. How about you?
You'll Make Friends
I've already mentioned Janie. I also feel as though CathyAllen is my friend too. She is so funny. I look forward to her comments because they're so lively and interactive. She really makes me laugh!
There are also others that I know I can depend on. We depend on our friends to push us to be better, teach us thing by expanding our horizon, and make us laugh.

Great post. Very well said. Sometimes I don't know or can't think of what to comment, but I always try to put a positive word or two, not always, but majority of the time I do. Christine McKay also is a good commenter and Heidi A. We have a lot of good commenters on this platform and I like to say thank you Karen for bringing this point out in the open. Comments help us all in some sort of the way or another.

Thank you Charlotte! It is hard sometimes to leave comments when I don't know much about the topic, but I try.
I hope you're staying warm. We went straight from Summer to Winter with a day or two of Fall between, didn't we??? Get ready for Summer again at Thanksgiving though... Lol!
Mississippi must be like Arkansas. If you don't like the weather wait a couple of days. it'll change...lol

PS How far from Oxford are you? My daughter-in-law is from there and I have taken her to visit her family there.

That being said, I think more of the experienced people could occasionally stop by and leave comments. I want to make sure that when my life improves, I never forget where I used to be.
But newbies, definitely! Bookmark that page separately - I did - and visit it daily. If you don't have a new article, just make a few comments for others, then ask them to visit your site, via the link you leave, and give you a comment on any article.

I do my best to give feedback on comments when they have been requested. I also ask for comments every time I finish a new blog.
I have limited time and am not moving along as quickly as I had thought, but for me that's ok.
I think this resource is a terrific one for all of us to use and as you said perhaps make a few new friends along the way.

Getting comments is great as the comment and your answer is added to your post as content. Like that, a post of let's say 1500 words grows, over time.
It is good to circulate your posts, you check if all is ok, like a youtube video gone gray, add some things if possible, and give it up for some new comments. Like that you keep your post it alive.
