I'm still new here myself.
The vast amount of information here can seem overwhelming at first, but it all fits together. As long as you are patient and know that even doing everything right it takes 6 months to a year before momentum jumps out at you, then you have won a lot of the battle.
Study, write, post and repeat. Don't allow your inner critic to make you hesitant to publish. Posts can always be polished, and Google loves posts that have been updated to give more value. Also not sure of your comfort level with WordPress. I had one years ago but was only to collect emails for self publishing.
So I set up a test site at the siterubix they offer to act as somewhat of a playground before making changes to the first site I'll be building. Years ago I broke my WordPress site a lot tinkering with code I didn't understand and had to keep having the support group reset my site to the last snapshot, lol. One of the great benefits here at WA is having multiple slots for websites.
Best of luck here, and perhaps we can grow here together and be looked at in the future as mentors to the newer folks coming in.
