Hi ... anyone know how to get your website to load in the language of the user based on IP address? e.g. if I view my site in China, it should load in Chinese. Cheers! Nik
Anyone know how to auto-translate webpages using hreflang?

Hi,
I think it is better to let your visitors choose their prefered language by themselves.
I am from Germany but live in Taiwan. I would be very annoyed if all the sites I visit would be in Chinese automatically.
I would just put a dropdown menu somewhere at the top, where visitors can change the language.
You need to create the pages for those other languages yourself, too.
I don't think that there is a good way to make this happen automatically. Translating software is just not good enough, in my opinion.
The hreflang tag is used to avoid duplicate content, so that google knows that the content is relevant for another group of people and doesn't punish you for duplicate content.
But that's actually a quite complicated subject, so I would do some more research before you do anything with that.
I don't know that much about hreflang, but how I understand it, it does not translate anything, but just helps google to understand that your content is not duplicate content.
Thanks! I already have a dropdown google translate menu, so I'll just stick with that ... thanks so much for your reply!
Cheers,
Nik
I just had a look at your site.
Looks really great.
But you have to be aware of the fact that google translate is far from perfect. ;)
Thank you! Yes, I agree, I've heard many people laugh at Google translations, so I hope they see the funny side if they use it!
Cheers,
Nik

Hi, I'm trying to determine what people are typing into Google to arrive at my site. Any help appreciated!
When you go into GWT (Search Console) go into Search Analytics and do your Search Queries and Google will list all your key words and average page location showing impressions and clicks.
Hope that helps.
Are you asking what GWT stands for?
Google Webmaster Tools
Google now calls it "The Search Console"
If people are finding your site via Google then it is safe to say that whatever keywords you are using are leading them to your site. I hope this helps.

Hi guys
I'm thinking of changing my domain in case I have copyright issues. Can I simply buy a new domain and the use the 'move' button on site manager to transfer all my
The actual moving of the site from URL to another is hard but it does have implications If your old URL is established and you have traffic,
Google will see your new URL's as un-trusted and you have to go through a bedding down process with them which will bring a drop in traffic as you rank down with them. This can last anywhere from a month or so to over 6 months, just depends on when they come to trust the new domain..
Hope this helps.
Yea, and from memory, I came across somewhere in google a discussion on this and that's how they recommend handling.

Hi everyone, thanks for reading. So, it's almost exactly a month since I joined WA and I'm almost ready to start earning from my website! The main issue I have is to do with ran
This happened to me a lot as well. It's more about building authority on your site. The more content you have and the longer your site has been up and running, the higher it will rank. Just keep targeting the low competition keywords throughout your content and adding plenty of content, and you'll be ranking well enough :)
