My journey so far
Hi everybody!
This is the first time I'm posting a blog on WA and i just wanted to write a little about what brought me here and how it's going for me.
I've just finished level 2 of the training. It's taken me a bit longer than I thought it would because I have two very young children who take up A LOT of my time and energy.
Today is my 35th birthday and I've decided to take the day to myself. I'm lying by a pool in a nice hotel, going through the WA training, later I'll pick up a book I've been trying to read called PRODUCTIVITY - get motivated, get organised and get things done. So I'm just generally taking some time out to do the things I love doing, learning and working on myself.
How I got started with WAI first came across WA when I was considering joining SFM, I liked the idea of working online but I just found their sales tactics a bit pushy and in your face. I then did some more online research and came across WA. This feels like a much better fit for me and im enjoying the process of building up my blog. At the same time I am also learning about drop shipping and hope to incorporate a shop into my blog. Has anyone here done this? Any tips would be greatly appreciated!
What I'm blogging aboutMy website domain is www.goinggreenmummy.com. the blog focuses on 'the musings of a mummy, trying to go green'. I share my tips and hacks of going green in a highly material and wasteful world. My aim is to highlight my imperfections as well as my achievements and to make other mummies feel like going green is achievable. Very often we feel like in order to go green one must change their habits from one day to the next and go from mindless consumer to treenhugger overnight.
This is totally impossible and not achievable. My mantra is progress not perfection and I want to convey the message that the planet doesnt need 100 people doing things perfectly but 1,000,000 people doing things imperfectly.
What my goals areI want my site to be a space for like minded individuals to share their progress with 'going green'. A virtual space where people from all over the world can meet, exchange tips and hacks and motivate each other to keep going, even when our attempts seem futile.
For the rest of the year I will focus on building content and making my site look professional and engaging. I hope to have written 100 blog posts by the end of the year.
I am also researching related products I can sell through my site through affiliate links as well as drop shipping.
In a years time I hope to have made my first sales and learnt a lot about online marketing.
In the meantime I will also be organising myself so that I have more time to spend on this wonderful work.
How I'm going about organising myselfI must confess that being organised has not been my forte this far. I've always been the kind of person who just went with the flow and although that afforded me quite a relaxed temperament, I now find myself realising the importance and benefits or being organised and efficient.
So, the first thing I did was set myself a weekly schedule or routine. I can't tell you how life changing this has been. I found what works for me and I repeat it every week. I no longer have to re-invent my week every single week and it (almost) always goes smoothly. WIN!
Next, I focused on my days and broke those down to a routine also, I made routine cards for my kids so that they can also take responsibility for their own routines. I will be writing a blog post about this shortly. It's been a God send.
Another important step I have taken in helping myself on this journey is to realise the importance of SELF CARE. So often mummies leave their own needs by the way side whilst they tend to their families needs and wants. I did this for a few years as well until I realised that the only thing this behaviour was going to do is get me sick. Lately, I've been setting aside time for myself and trying my very best not to let the MOM GUILT get to me!
Here are the things I want to do more of going forwardLearning - continue training here at WA at a steady pace
Writing - I quit writing when I left school and only picked it up again recently after joining WA. I thought I had lost the knack for it but it seems to be coming back to me and I actually really really enjoy it.
Reading - same as above, used to do a lot more of it, just getting back to it and loving it.
Yoga - I cannot believe the benefit a quick yoga session has on my well being. I used to tell myself I didn't have time for it but I'm glad to say it's now part of my weekly schedule. I go to a friends house on Thursdays and we follow yoga by Adrienne in her living room. It's an incredible way to de-stress and I will be scheduling another session into my week soon.
Meditation - I've never actually done this but it is next on my list. I'm absolutely convinced that meditation comes with massive benefits and I intend to learn more about it very soon and start practicing it.
SELF LOVE - I used to rely on other people for my self worth until I realised that I can fulfill this need for myself. I now pay attention the the way that I speak to myself and make sure that I am kind and gentle with myself. I cant tell you what a difference this has made to my self esteem. For the first time in 35 years I can look in the mirror without cringing and that feels amazing. I will definitely be learning more about how I can be my own best friend as this has been the single most effective change I have made lately.
Bye for nowOn to my reading :) thank you for reading my blog, I hope you've found something of value within my words and I would be very interested to hear any feedback. Till the next time, wishing you all a brilliant day and a lot of motivation and creativity ❤
