Don't Put All Of Your Eggs In One Basket!
I was really excited about this new niche that I found!
I have been creating lots of engaging content and traffic has been steadily increasing.
I have worked really hard at tweaking calls to action in order to improve conversions.
I actually have the number one position in google for many of my keywords!
Even the featured snippet for some.
Here's the problem...
I was so focused on all of the above, that I ignored one of the most important pieces of advice that I have gotten over the years.
"Don't put all your eggs in one basket".
I was so excited about the niche, that I chose Amazon for monetization because it was going to be easy to make an extra $1000 per month!
The bad news...
Amazon actually cut my commission on these products from 4% to 1.5%!
So just when I was starting to really ramp up the sales, my earnings dropped by almost a third.
The good news...
It is still a good niche and there are other affiliate programs out there for these products. I am just not sure how good the conversions will be.
Amazon makes conversion so easy, because everybosy has a credit card on file and a shipping address on file and can just quickly order and have it in a couple of days.
I am also considering an online store and dropshipping these products, now that I am trending towards 10k-20k or more per month in sales.
The Takeaway...
I was lucky.
Even though I chose Amazon for monetization, there are other affiliate programs available. If I were building this niche out today, I would check that first to make sure that I had options.
The biggest lesson to learn here is Don't Put All Your Eggs In One Basket.
P.S. This a niche that I literally stumbled across while doing keyword research. It was a related keyword and I didn't even know what it mean't.
Further research showed that it had a lot of potential and a lot of high search, low competition related keywords.
The lesson here is to keep your eyes open when doing keyword research. You never know where your next profitable niche is going to come from!
