Give THEN Take Thread
I'm sure most everyone here has used the Give and Take Comments Thread at one point or another. I started out here following Kyle's instructions by first leaving three (sometimes more) good quality comments then posting my link at the top asking for comments.
I quickly noticed that doing things this way only yielded one maybe two comments, and oftentimes none at all! I looked through the thread and saw that at least 75% (probably more) of the people posting their links were first posting them then stating they'd return the favor AFTERWARDS without having left a single comment on anyone else's post.
So I'd respond to some of these requests after leaving comments on their website asking for comments on mine in return. 50% of the time, none was given. I understand the instructions for the Give and Take Thread aren't give someone a comment then ask them to do the same for you.
However if you're going to post your site first saying you'll return the favor you should make sure you're actually returning the favor! If you're not going to then use the the thread the way it was meant to be used.
Kyle set it up the way he did for a reason. All of us are looking to succeed in our online business and he's tried to set up the clearest path to our success possible. Before taking something we should first give!
It's not called the Take and Give Thread because the first step is to help someone else out first. I've even had people respond to my request for comments saying they left one and ask me to do the same for them when they haven't left anything on my site. I'll probably stick to the Site Comments from now on because this truly is a Give then Take system.
Thank you Kyle for setting up a solution to the Give and Take Comments Thread being used incorrectly.

I use the Site Comments under the Site Rubix drop down menu. There you have to leave two comments first to earn credits to receive 1 comment. It is a pay it forward system. You do get some lame comments there but you also get some very good ones. I have found it to be worthwhile. In fact I will probably do a few comments this evening.

You are right, Labman, I have also had similar issues. For what ever the reason, some people just forget that the giving IS just as important as the getting. By reading another post to comment on, not only will you be adding value to the other post, but you may also leave there with more knowledge about something, which is never a bad thing.

That's how I feel too. I don't mind returning the favor when people ask. It does take time but I truly do want to help others succeed in their endeavors as well. I'm just glad there is a solution. If the Give and Take Thread was the only way for me to get comments I don't know what I'd do!

OMG so true, selfish individuals. Same happened to me. I did as Kyle suggested, my reward was 2 comments.
Cheers,
