About JudLie
Joined October 2016
I'm new to the world of online digital marketing but excited albeit a teensy weensy nervous about this new chapter in my life, and hoping to learn as much as I can to effect changes in my life.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I typed the above out when I first joined and as I felt put on the spot that's all that I managed to say....but here's a little bit more about me:
I graduated eons ago with a degree in Business Administration with Business Spanish. Not having had the opportunity to use Spanish in business settings or on a job, that's pretty much gone out the window with just a smattering of conversation Spanish left.
I definitely have the travel bug which has been dormant for too long owing to my present situation with its responsibilities, but the travel bug is slowly but surely rearing its head, and it will soon be too difficult to resist its charms ;)
I absolutely love to read - both fiction and non-fiction, and my most favourite genres are historical novels and dark thrillers, you know the edge-of-the-seat kind that get your heart racing from page 1.
I love the outdoors to a certain degree although in Autumn / Fall, I love to be indoors cooking, baking, reading, and just chilaxing.
My favourite film genres are historical period British dramas and mystery / crime dramas. I also LOVE watching documentaries, as not only are they interesting but watching them is also a great way to broaden one's knowledge bank.
I'm glad to have found WA, and so far I'm enjoying the online community spirit, all the support and most of all the awesome videos that have been put together by various people.
Awesome goals Judith!!
Now that you have goals to work towards you are going to be able to really focus on the training. Take action on what you learn and the lessons will take you towards achieving your goals.
I look forward to working with you and having you as an active part of the Wealthy Affiliate Community.
Those are some very achievable goals Judith, and once you reach them, you'll be primed and ready to go beyond. If you stick to the plan and dedicate that amount of time to training and taking action every day, then you are definitely going to start to see some results!
Had to stop by Jud, to read and learn a bit more about you!
It sounds like you have created a nice life for yourself, and that travel bug can be worked with the advent of online marketing to your world. It will allow more of that as you grow the business I am sure.
I have that same bug and love nothing more than meeting new people, trying new foods, learning a smattering bits and pieces of the local languages, and just seeing new things...
After a year or so, I am sure things are starting to solidify for you. I know for me it was like a snowball rolling down a hill....Not much traction at first, but it all builds on what you have done, and before you know it, you are rolling faster and faster!
Great to meet you and thanks also for the follow!
Cheers!
thanks for stopping by ;)
Technically, I haven't been on here for a year. Due to a personal situation, I was out of WA not long after I joined and only returned a couple months or so ago, but all the while WA was at the back of my mind.
It's so good to be back. There's so much to soak in, but it just reels me in to learn more and advance forward. I think this is the greatest online community I'm a member of, way better than Facebook (well, except for one group I'm a member of on FB, which as been a real lifeline of support for me in challenging moments).
All the best,
Ju
Thanks for your follow and the opportunity to read your interesting profile. In some respects we share some common threads! I'm British but by choice now live in Spain. I share your love of British historical drama (which we Brits do seem to make well!) and following current affairs, documentaries and history.
I do wish you every success in your online endeavours.
Kind regards
Hello Judith!
It's very nice to meet you and I'm happy we are connected now.
Me too love to travel, to read books and being outdoor walking, jogging or enjoying the garden. I totally agree that documentaries broaden ones knowledge - I do also like to look all kind of documentaries, like about the universe, psychology, health, and much more.
Yes, that's really true, WA is awsome! Wish you all the best and lot of fun in whatever you do.
Sounds interesting, the book by your favourite author. What impresses you most about the book?
Reply
AaronNewsom Premium
What impresses me so much about this book is that this book teaches you so much about social engagement and finding the common interest and value in people....for example Chapter 2 The Big Secret of Dealing with people talks on this philosopher John Dewey who states the deepest urge in human nature is to be important which is the probably one of if not the most important desires in a human being...that is the desire to be great, this book is really informative..you should if you ever have time check it out.
That does indeed sound interesting. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me. I appreciate that. Sometimes it's nice to just stop and connect, something which is slowly disappearing from today's society, where technology takes first and center stage, and human connections and relationships are left to wither and die away. A simple hello with a smile at the supermarket checkout can make someone's day, or smile at people on the street means a lot.
Reply
AaronNewsom Premium
That is very true whether we accept it or not most of us are reactionary, meaning we respond to how people randomly view or access our behavior. Short term in human emotion is people want to to be valued...like you stated the simple hello with a smile can make someones day, that is so true!!!! Human connection is very important....it really is what keeps us going.
Reply
judLie Premium
Yep, human connection IS indeed important...yes, it really keep us going. As much as the online community at WA is great, and is assisting in the pursuit of having a successful business life, it shouldn't negate or fully erase the human connections we have and can have.
Judith, nice to hear from you. I look forward to getting to know you my new WA friend.
You sound like someone I would like to meet in 'real' life! Reading, cooking and baking (I love my bread), documentaries and thrillers. Especially scifi and fantasy thrillers and I chose this as my first niche.
Work hard, have some fun and don’t forget to ask questions.
A very nice boss once told me, ‘Helen, when you ask a silly question everyone else breathes a collective sigh of relief because they don’t have to!’ And that is so true. No question is silly so ask away.
If I can’t help I might be able to point you in the right direction.
Now let us keep in touch.
Hi Judlie,
Welcome to WA.
I guess we are all a bit nervous when we first join WA.
If you work at learning what is in the lessons here, you will do fine.
After two months, I am still learning, after a year, I will still be learning. But, It is great to be part of a community of like minded people who enjoy helping others succeed.
I wish you every success.
I hope things are going well. I know you are getting rolling within the training and there is ONE thing that always tends to confuse people and that is "what is my niche?".
I know, same thing happened to me when I started.
I just wanted to reach out and let you know that I am here if you ever want to run any niche "ideas" by me or you have any questions about finding your niche.
Get back to me when you get the chance! :)
Things are indeed going well with the training....and I do have questions. As regards niches, I think I'm going to go for the "make money" niche to start with, as I think of other niches to build subsequent websites on.
I do have questions but I think that my questions will be answered as I go on with the 'Get Started' training and then with the Affiliate Bootcamp.
I will be get in touch if anything is unclear.
oh, but before I go here are a couple of niche ideas I have. The first one is indeed broad and needs to be narrowed down and I wonder how to narrow it down tbh. I've been on DMOZ and haven't found a sub sub-category that nails it down for me.
My 'broad' niche I thought of is Special Needs as I have a child with special needs who has a rare chromosome disorder.
A question related to niches I have is: how does having a niche and creating a website translate to creating content on said website to affiliating to driving traffic to said website? I'm passionate about special needs, obviously because I have a child with SN and I know that I can narrow down this broad niche to say, SN toys or SN books, or SN games, etc but how do I find a company that offers affiliate programmes for that niche? I'm probably jumping ahead of myself and should just carry on with the training....but some feedback from you would be really appreciated.
Reply
nathaniell Premium
I'm not exactly sure how special needs are categorized, but you could narrow down the type of special needs families you'd like to target that might be good. If you can't categorize them and just want to go broad, then maybe special needs of a certain age group. A SN child age 5 will be very different from a SN person age 35, with different degrees of independence.
So have a think about what type of family/person you'd like to help and write articles for.
But you can definitely find lots of products to talk about and promote in this niche. The same is true of any niche. Do a search for "product" and "affiliate program" or "topic" "affiliate program" and lots will turn up.
Kyle will show you this later in the lessons, but there are so many options out there that it's not super important to do right now. The main thing is to have your topic read, your website created, and then start creating articles (Kyle will show you all of this in the lessons).
Let me know if you have any follow up questions and I hope you enjoy the training!
I am enjoying the training.
yes, I think I will carry on with the lessons and from time to time will read shared links. I just don't want to feel overwhelmed at any stage cos if that happens I'll shut down.
Thanks for being there for me, Nat. Totally appreciated.
Hi Nathaniell!
I'm feeling a bit overwhelmed. I thought I was signing up for email info on affiliate marketing not signing up with Wealthy Affiliate straightaway. I wasn't planning on joining till next week as I am rather busy this week and will not be able to dedicate the time I'll obviously need to get acquainted with the site as well as to start on the course. So, needless to say I'm feeling a but rushed.
Anyway, I guess I need to hit the ball running...
Btw, thanks for the welcome message. I do appreciate that.
