The Law of Distraction!

So, you've probably heard a great deal about the Law of Attraction - I even spoke about it yesterday in my Jim Carrey post - but have you ever heard about the Law of DIS-traction? I assume not, as neither had I until today lol!

I was having a chat with Michael, (Ultimateless,) this morning and he came up with the idea and I thought, hey...there's a rabbit! See what I mean? It's so easy to become distracted and taken away from what we were focusing on. Now, where was I? (!)

It's Friday, the weekend is calling and you're sitting in front of your laptop, trying to come up with an idea to write a new post for your site, or for our benefit at WA. (Sound familiar?) So you start flicking through various sites, looking for ideas and wait! You've seen a promotion, offering to make you millions overnight! You think, 'well, it'll only take a minute' and before you know it, you've spent an hour wondering why you're not already rich!

That is the lure of the internet...

Now, don't worry too much, this is not an illness which has no cure. It just requires some dedication and focus.

If you know that you tend to wander off on a tangent then you need to make plans to only allow this to happen when you're not working. Make a plan of how you would like your day to look - allow time for research, but have no other tabs open at the same time.

If you still like to chat to friends on social media, then build that into your plan, but I would suggest that you only allow it at the end of the day or when you've ticked off any other tasks you need to accomplish that day. In that way, when someone asks what you're doing tomorrow, you can take a look at your schedule and say 'I will be doing...' Or are you more like this...

Persistence and focus will pay off in the end. You need to remember that when you're working for yourself, you still have a boss to answer to, and that's you! No-one else can hold you accountable or plonk some papers on your desk, while yelling, 'I want these done by lunchtime!'

You alone are the master of your destiny - do you want a great future, or do you want to know how many babies Angelina Jolie now has? (6 for those of you who are interested! See what I did there? Saved you from going to find out!)

And trust me - I am one of the worst when it comes to being easily distracted and I literally have to fight with my urges on a daily basis, (but that's another story!) This next image represents me perfectly...

So go on, write that post now! FaceBook will still be there when you've finished!

I hope you all have a productive day and a restful weekend. For those of you in the USA, do you get a long weekend as Monday will be July 4? Lucky you lol!

Ciao for now my hard-working lovelies!

Great post Jude, it is so easy to get distracted by anything, it's better to stay focused on what I do, lol. thanks for this great tip.

Thanks for stopping by Alejandra :)

Loved this post!! It's like you are talking to me Jude haha

Glad you enjoyed it :)

I love this post, it comes in my area being a project manager for over 16 years. As PM Indeed you need to make a plan so you can follow that coming to an end result. Setting up a website or even a page is exactly the same. Making a plan keeps you focused on delivering output following your own process. Perfect post, thanks

Thanks so much :)
