Day One

So today was officially my first day as a premium member. I'll be honest and say I didn't do a whole lot other than watch the welcome video and do some research about niches. I picked a niche when I first started the free training, but I feel like it's too narrow. So one thing I decided to check out was "Is it better to pick a narrow niche or a broader one?" I found a helpful article that suggested thinking instead about branding or what you want to be known for. Ultimately, I want to promote products that help reduce our environmental impact. More specifically, products that help with waste reduction and those that are focused on reducing emissions. I feel like that's two niches though. Any thoughts on that?

Also, one thing I am curious about is, what if I have specific products or companies I want to promote, but they don't have an affiliate program? What do I do then and how much can I really do as a beginner?

Thanks in advance for any input!

Hi Joy. I totally agree with Roy. For the moment while you are learning stick with what's known to work. You can always add the other when you're up and running. Jim

Well done for going premium Joy, you won't regret it, just stick to the training and take action!

As for affiliate programs, there are loads of affiliate programs available and I would try and keep things simple to start with and just sell products that have an affiliate program. I understand that you may see other products that you would like to promote, this could probably happen at a later date if you negotiate with the company that produces these particular products. But for starters, keep it simple, go with an affiliate program that already exists.

Enjoy your day.

Roy

Hi Joy

Congrats on day one!

I think you could probably handle it either way - maybe focus on waste reduction first then reducing emissions later within the same site. Your keyword research will guide you too when you get to that.

I personally like to include products that don't have an affiliate program if I really want to recommend them. Others would disagree with me on that. I'd just make sure that you have enough products with affiliate programs that you can include, or you won't be able to monetize.

Good luck going forward, it sounds like you'll be creating a really positive impact through your work.

You could always draft an email explaining to these companies what your doing, whay, and why you want to 'promote' them and see if they would be willing to take you on as an affiliate. Others have had success in doing that.

Yes, I could see this working down the road once I'm up and running.

Hey great first post and welcome to WA!

I don't think you can go "too narrow." There will be plenty of ways to create content with a very narrow niche. You will learn more as you progress through the training and ideas will start coming to you. Just keep at it and work hard.

Try searching google as such: (Company) + affiliate

I have found a few products this way. When you go to their page they have no affiliate information. But when you search with the method above, the first listing is their affiliate program. Some places simply won't have one. You will still have much to promote though!

I think your best course of action is to focus on creating content and progressing with the training. This will help you get your website going strong and attract visitors before you worry too much about the income aspect!

I hope this has provided you some help and have a great day!
