Thrown off track!
Hey Guys,
As many of you know, I am a materials engineer by training. I actually just graduated college a few short weeks ago. I had (and still have) interviews but didn't really find anything that caught my attention until a few weeks ago. I got called into an interview and was told that I was the perfect fit for the job. Needless to say, I was thrilled! It would have been the perfect opportunity.
Or so I thought... I actually got rejected for reasons I can only speculate.
So why am I sharing my not so great story with you? Because as I am sitting here writing this, I realize that rejection is a part of life and that after a few hours of wallowing in self pity I decided to get up and start hustling again.
It is not one rejection or setback that defines how you are going to do in your life. So that's what I am telling myself as I fake it till I make it.
I don't know where my future job will be or where I will end up, but I know that sometimes you just have to let things run their course, just as we all are learning here at WA. I am truly grateful to have a wonderful community such as WA to share my journey with.
Love you all,
Janani

Congratulations Janani on the graduation.
Don't worry about the rejection - you were obviously too good for them anyway. We are great believers in "everything happens for a reason!" so there is probably something even better just around the corner.
Graduating from college is a great accomplishment. The right opportunity will come along...until then you always have your website!

Congratulations on your graduation, Janani!!! That truly is an incredible accomplishment!
It's frustrating just when you think it's "in the bag" as the saying goes, only to be rejected without having a clue as to why.
You have a great attitude, Janani, so I'm glad to hear that the wallowing only lasted hours, not days.
I've heard people say that they would often go back and ask the interviewer what caused them not to hire them. It's a bold move, but you have nothing to lose, and you may end us learning something. Who knows, it could be one small thing that needs to be tweaked.
All the best withyour job search, Janani.
This happens a lot Janani. Don't let it discourage you. For every one of these that falls through usually, due to competition, there are many that will fly!
Thank you Veronica and Michael! I am considering asking what went wrong so I can improve for future interviews... it really is a numbers game.. something will stick!

Congratulations Janani, to your graduation!!!
You definitively have got the perfect attitude.
It took me much longer to realize what you already now have realized. A rejection hurts at the first moment, it feels very personal. But, it is often better to be rejected than to land in the wrong place. You see, we are all different, and we just have to find the right place to be. If we get rejected from a workplace, that means it wouldn't have been the right place for me anyway and something really good is still waiting for you.
Keep going, keep on searching for your perfect place to be!
:-)
Thank you Pernilla! It does sting at first, but better things lie around the corner!
