Daily Kaizen: Go Big by Thinking Small
In all of its manifold varieties, Eastern philosophy is a paradox in a box. It's beautiful and enriching while at the same time confounding and complex. I think, though, therein lies its beauty, namely, in its complex simplicity.
Such is Kaizen, the philosophy that embodies the idea that generating big changes in one's life results from making very small, sometimes imperceptibly small, changes to one's daily thoughts, routines, and habits. The promise of Kaizen is that taking very small steps, like snowballs rolling down hills or waves forming several miles offshore, can and do lead to marked changes in our lives. For all of us currently employing our time, thoughts, creative energy, and even money into building an online business presence, we would all do well to remember the truth contained in those old adages--such as "Rome wasn't built in a day" and "The journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step."
So remember, going big means thinking small (at least for some of us for whom this philosophy resonates). In building your Rome or journeying along your thousand miles, remember that every single stone and step counts. When you reach your destination, or at least reach one of them, you may have long forgotten about one particular stone or one particular step. But its contribution will be etched, indelibly, into the foundation.
And so will every succeeding stone and step after...
