My steps to success.

"Stuff takes time."

"But I don't have much time."

"It will happen if you let it."

"What! I've been sitting here 'letting it happen' for like 2 weeks and I'm still not getting anywhere!"

This is me, talking to me. Starting something is pretty scary because the road can seem so long to get to where you want to be, especially in the online world where having 10 tabs open doing completely different tasks is very possible. That's whey recently I have started hitting each day with a set plan,

  1. Emails - one at a time and complete the task that it addresses. This means if someone has commented for me, then I comment back to them and then move on. I no longer try and group my emails together to save time (it actually wastes time). One and Done is my new motto for emails.
  2. A little look around WA to see if I can't help someone or learn something new. I spend no more than 30mins doing this.
  3. Coffee
  4. Keyword search and a post. I have a list of post it notes on my desktop with a list of hundreds of possible keywords and links back to other posts. This saves time as they normally come to me at odd times (I write them in my phone most times) Sometimes I don't finish my post but I don't let that bother me anymore, I save it and let it sit for the next day where I can come back with a fresh mind.
  5. Chill. I do something outside that involves getting away form my computer, mind and body. Normally it's a run with the dog or a surf. Any activity to keep the mind occupied away from my site.
  6. Lunch. A healthy lunch. Trust me, good food makes for a clear mind. I also have a cup of Tea because my site is about tea and this kicks my mind into 'the tea gear'.
  7. Double check my post and make sure I'm happy with it. Then I go ahead an add my post to Google+ (if I had any other platforms like Instagram or FB I would add it to them to) If I haven't finished the post then I skip this step because from my experience if I try attack it again I will just end up frustrated and wasting time.
  8. I navigate my site. Check it out, try and imagine I am someone coming in for the first time.
  9. Chill session #2. The ashes cricket is on at the moment so I park up and watch that :D
  10. Dinner
  11. Continue my WA training and or check out some videos about online marketing an SEO training. Most of these videos come from other here at WA or links I find that they have recommended.
  12. I read a book that relates to my niche. Right now that is "the book of tea" by Kakuzo Okakura. A book relating to Japanese tea culture and its simple yet powerful nature.

Someone once told me that if you don't have a plan then your plan is to fail. That definitely makes sense here in the online world of business. Write down your day the night before then follow through with it. It is a guaranteed way to get things done.

PS. Setting days aside for solely web site design or another large task is always smart as well. I Draw what I want my site or page to look like and then go about learning how to bring it to life.

PPS. Take a day off every now and then, it's good for the soul.

All the best to everyone here at WA

Stay stoked,

Jake
