Busy Busy Busy
Always good to give it a go...
Just last week I researched a hotel in my area for a blog I am working on. I noticed the most self important hotel in the area was up there on Google numero uno...
Then I noticed a message underneath their website name. The message was:-
"This site may be hacked." If you click that message you then get a warning telling you that Google advises you do not visit the site or if you do you may be infected with adware/malware and possibly end up in a nightmare. Well you know maybe not the nightmare part but you get what I mean...
So I get the number of the hotel and I pick up the phone. I quickly inform them that they have this message on Google. They know about this, but seem a bit hesitant in saying so. So I press on to say that I am a local webmaster building a website for the town and would like to list their site on my site but I am a bit hesitant because of this warning. They finally say that they are looking into obtaining a new website and they have put a request out. I then ask can I put in my quote please? The reply:-
"Well yes but well we do need it to be OK to view on mobile phones and tablet things. Can you do that?"
Music to my ears as this is quite easy for me and I imagine for you too. Anybody not know give me a shout! Not too loud though please. So what I have done is quickly (within 1hour) I have created a mock up website for them on a spare domain I have. (Hmmm I have a fair few domains. One called boyswantgirls.com but thought better not use that one...) Anyway I not only set up the domain and passed them the link to verify from Google that their new site is mobile friendly but I also sent a picture of the security package that I have installed on their new site. I am now awaiting for them to;_
A) Call me back.
B) Them to email me back
Or I shall call them but I am pretty confident they will be impressed.
The next day my wife goes for a job interview at another hotel. Quickest interview ever she walked in. Peter (The Boss) asked her "When can you start?" She replied tomorrow. He said good. My wife said there was a mistake on his website and that I spotted it. He said call him. So I did. I meet him on Thursday to build his website. To think before WA I never had the balls to approach people/business for their websites.
Do not underestimate what you learn here. Each and every day your knowledge becomes 10x stronger than the general populace out there and if you keep on keeping on you shall live your dreams...

PS On a side note one client that I have consulted with about their webdevelopment asked me to quickly update their site. They asked for some content to be removed and new content to be added. No problem there. Then they say they want the exact same content on two pages on their website. There goes my advice on not putting on duplicate content. Their loss...
