Let me help you with building a website in Joomla
As a person who's been doing websites of all sizes, purposes and features in Joomla for more than 3 years, I am offering my advices regarding anything related to Joomla.
Joomla is a CMS excellent for simple blogs, presentation sites, social networking, membership sites, online stores, and many many more...
I recently wrote a training resource - Working with Joomla guide, which is a simple guide through all basic Joomla features. You should read it if you're interested in Joomla, and then, if you want a similar training for your Joomla topic, ask me about it.
Make a list of all things you'd like to know, and post it on my profile. I'll take them in consideration for my training topic.

An article or a post on Joomla vs Wordpress would help us to choose which CMS to go for a particular website based on the features needed. I have been working on Wordpress only till now. A brief list of features in Joomla that are not found in Wordpress would help many like me.
There are hundreds of extensions for Joomla, just as there are for Wordpress.
I'll write an article about comparing Joomla and Wordpress soon, but what will help you the most is that you decide what features you're looking for.
When you do, let me know and I'll write about how to get them on both Joomla and Wordpress!
Thanks for this - I guess the one question I would have is what are the benefits of Joomla over WP, for the relative Newbie like myself who has just about got to grips with Web sites etc?

One thing is what you're used to. It can get really easy to do just about anything on both Joomla and Wordpress, just as it can get difficult.
