You have probably heard of Joomla. It's an open source CMS project. It's constantly updated and upgraded by thousands of coders who provide it's users with new features and options. It is different than any other CMS, yet very similar. What makes it exceptional is it's wide sphere of possibilities. It's easy to create a social networking Joomla websites, maintain newsletter lists, make membership sites, update and maintain content without knowledge of code, and many other, thanks to numerous extensions and plugins.

You can google for Joomla extensions and you will get surprised how deep the rabbit hole goes.

This tutorial is for beginner Joomla users who want to know how to arrange website structure, edit content, add images, use newsletter components, etc.

What is a CMS?

CMS – Content management system – the name itself tells you that you can manage the content of your website without knowing any html code (in 90% of the cases). Joomla is a CMS that edits the content in html as you edit it in your predesigned editor, looking similar to MS Word editor. Also, it has many components, plugins and modules that allow you simplified control over normally difficult to handle parts of website (video galleries, login modules, polls, guestbooks, calendars, etc.).

You will understand everything once you get involved with your first Joomla website.

Very well done jpesut. If anyone needs or wants to know about joomla you did a great job. I like that you included nice screen shots so readers could see visually what you were talking about. Thanks.

To be honest, this is a rewritten user manual I created for my customers that wanted to use Joomla sites I've done for them. :)

Excellent tutorial Josip, just diving into it here and I find it very easy to walk through. It is going to be of great help for anyone who is interested in using a CMS outside of Wordpress here at WA.

There are definitely some great benefits to using Joomla and it is a wonderful Content Management Platform for websites!

Couldn't agree more with you.
I've been doing web design for almost 3 years and 90% of sites I've done were on Joomla. It never disappointed me. I did everything there - from catalogues, shops, social networking features, to simple websites...

Yeah, they allow for much more sophisticated websites than do Wordpress sites allow for.
