What Do You Want For Christmas?

Today I am making my shopping lists of things I haven't gotten yet for my kids, grandson, and husband. Not too many days to go before Christmas and if haven't done all your shopping you only have SIX days until Christmas Day.

I have been thinking today about the fact that none of my children asked for anything this year. Even my 17-year-old, when I asked him, he said, it doesn't matter mom. I don't know if they just realize how people are hurting these days and feel guilty in asking for things that they do not need, or what the deal is this year, but it kind of makes me sad.

I started thinking a lot about this and realized that I really didn't want anything materially for Christmas, but there were things that I do want for Christmas. Maybe this is what my children are wanting too.

1. I want my family to be happy. I want them to have fewer problems the next year. I want their hearts to be lighter.

2. I want to create security for my family. I want them to feel secure in their family and that we will help each other no matter what.

3. I want to develop more meaningful relationships throughout the next year. I don't want to be around those that are superficial and say they care, but really don't.

4. I want make sure that my priorities are where they should be. Those priorities are to be made my me and my husband, not by others. There are times I let others create my priorities -- this is just crazy! LOL

5. I want to be part of the solution to problems and not the creator of them.

These things are really from my heart and I hope that you all will have a wonderful Christmas and will love your family and those you love like you have never loved before over this next year. As I get older -- and I'm not old so don't you dare say that LOL -- but I start to realize maybe I have not loved the way I should have over the years. Life goes by faster than you realize until the day when you realize it! (Real thought provoking, huh?)

My love and best wishes go out to each of you and hope your holiday season will be heartwarming and fun. I also hope you get all you want for Christmas!

with wazzlebewwy dwessing! - Merry Christmas to you and yours - being together with my fam and health and happiness are on top - a few extra sheckles in the coffer wouldn't hurt either

Big Steve....like your sense of humor! I hope your Christmas is awesome!

I feel the same way. My kids asked me what I wanted for my birthday back in October and I told them to take the money they were going to spend and buy themselves something special.

I know. I always tell mine I don't need anything and I don't want anything. Just take care of yourself! :)

very great post. Truly inspirational. Keep the gud work, Joyce!!

Thank you! Have a GREAT night!

Great post, Joyce. Theos' comments work well for me, too. Twenty small lights of hope (and six larger ones) were lost at a Connecticut elementary school last Friday. We all need to do whatever we can in the coming year to make the world just a little bit brighter.

Mr. Bill, this is so very true! Thanks! Hope your week is going GREAT!

EVeryone on my list wants money. LOL I wouldn't mind a 5 lb box of $20's myself.

That would be nice, huh? Love your humor! Hopefully, next year that won't be any problem here! That is my goal, anyway! Thanks for reading and posting.

Your post has brought a warmth to my heart...I know now that there are at least two people out there that feel the way I do :) May you and your's have the Merriest of Christmas joy and the best New Year you have ever had!!!

David

Thank you Dave, and it is a pleasure to know you! Have a GREAT day!

Wonderful piece Mis Joyce and great sentiments expressed! I feel very much the same way. I would also like to see more love in the world and less hatred. More helping each other and less fighting and war. More compassion and less judgement. More solutions and less problems, and peace for all. Bless you!

Very well said, Mr. Theos! Have a GREAT day!

Hello :(My name is Alan)
What's yours?

Glad to meet you Alan. Hope you are doing well with WA! :)

Your post really resonated with me. These are the reasons why I'm here at WA. To be a solution to just a few of the problems in people's worlds.
I do this with my dog training as well. I have never been paid for this work. Bringing people closer together with their animals has some amazing benefits. In the animals as well as in their owners.

I think there are those that always want to help others. You seem to be that kind of person! Thanks for your comments.

I was not allowed to have a dog when I was a boy, and when I married I learned my wife wife was a cat person. You can see what happened.

Merry Christmas Joyce. I don't want anything much either. I just want to be able to dk the things that make me happy and be surrounded by people who appreciate my company.

I know what you mean! Have a GREAT day!
