Be Very Careful

Good morning all!

I have finally returned from getting a lease signed for our new place in February and really need to be packing today, but I will have to spend some time each day on my business, as this is part of what is allowing me to move to the beach! YAY

I felt that I really needed to express this concern that I have over some of the things I have read when we have new members come in. Some have not been here long enough to understand that they are going to have to build their business from scratch and they think this is a forum to promote their latest and greatest find, or shinny object as others would call it.

*** Edited to add: As this may have been confusing to some, what I have seen is that they post websites, most of the time they will be affiliate websites that have matrix type programs or gifting type programs. These promise to make you a lot of money in a short period of time and the truth is, they simply don't! There have been other types of programs that require that you have a large following or they won't work for you either. Don't fall for them. They will say even if you are a beginner you can make XXXX in 30 days, 60 days, etc. This is NOT the case. Be very careful. Sorry for the confusion!

Be very careful and do not get involved with any of these things. I feel like I have tried them all and they DO NOT WORK!

You may get a sale to two, mostly likely will not get anything but your wallet lighter, and waste a lot of time. So please, for yourself, do not fall into the trap.

I have even seen some gifting and matrix type programs listed in bios and as websites on pages. Be very careful. If you follow the training here you will build a viable, strong business that will carry you the rest of your life.

I have become very attached to my WA family and I don't want to see any of you lose your hard earned money. It is so easy to be pulled into the hype and promise of riches. Be very careful.

Happy New Year to all and if there is anything I can do to help you please let me know!

Love to all!

Joyce aka Nana

Thanks for the good advice

Thanks, Kathy!

Excellent advice. The best thing that you can do if someone is promoting something here at Wealthy Affiliate in a blatant way is to Report it as Spam (under Actions). I recommend you doing this if you see spam as we do not support promotions or spam here within the community at WA.

You can also get in touch with me personally if you sense anything like this going on. I will deal with it accordingly.

WA is a safe and helpful environment for aspiring and successful entrepreneurs and we are going to keep it this way. Thanks again everyone for helping keep the community here at WA spam free!

Thank you, Kyle!

Thank you for the warning. Unfortunately some feel the need to promote the "shiny GET-RICH" type schemes which only take away from the value of WA.

Yes, they do, but I really think most do not realize this at the time. I fell for many of them over the years! ;) Not anymore though. I finally have my head screwed on right! LOL Thanks!

Thanks for this post since I am as new as you can possibly be. I am learning from WA as well as another source and it is so much info. that sometimes I think we as being new to this will fall for it if someone says its a "good thing", or we need to do this to succeed. I have been so carefull I havent even put up my web page yet! That may be fear:). Again thank-you for caring. Paula

Don't fear taking action when you are following the training here. You will be going in the right direction. what you have to be careful of is all the hype of great riches in a short period of time. If you hit a niche just right you might get there faster, but there is no replacing building your business step by step. Thanks for the comments and support.

Thank you so much for posting this. Being a newbie I love the safety and security of WA. I haven't fallen prey to anything yet, i've been lucky. Plus if anyone even "talks" to me I run it by Rich first to make sure its ok....lol :) This needs to be in the Top 10! Every newbie will feel "safer" reading this!

You are welcome! Thanks! :)

Unfortunately this happens where ever you are, somebody is always trying to scam you.
I know the rules here are fairly relaxed compared to some Forums that I am a member of. With those you can be suspended for really minor infractions.
I for one don't like having garbage thrown at me.

I don't really think they are trying to scam us, I just think they don't know yet what it takes to actually have an online business. If they stay here long enough, though, they will figure it out! :)

Very good heads up Joyce!

Thanks, Shawn!

Brilliant and timely post, Nana, kudos!

I've seen a number of these recently, also people trying to persuade members to go "off chat" so they can promote scams such as Empower and RefBan to them. If this happens to anyone, they should report it immediately.

No-one from WAU will shoot you for being the messenger. Nor think you a "fool" if you've fallen for something like this. If you're reluctant or worried, you're welcome to contact me as some already have and I'll forward it on. I won't reveal anyone's name (apart from the scammer's) to anyone else, it'll be in strictest confidence, I promise.

WAU is a fantastically safe environment for newcomers but it will only remain so if everyone is vigilant about these "scummy" people and their "scummy" techniques. I know of far too many people who've lost way too much to let anyone else inadvertently fall victim to pathetic promoters of "get rich quick" schemes.

Rich. x

I really think for the most part it is not someone trying to be scammy or scummy, just they don't know any better "yet." Yes, you will find those that will come here and start spamming right off the bat. Those are detected pretty fast and are gone quickly. These are people that I think are looking for ways to make money online and they are just putting their newest found shinny object in their profile or in their website list. :)

I've PM'd you, Nana. ;) If newcomers do it without realising it, I always point them in the direction of Page 6 of "Learn How WA Works", entitled "Spam Is A No, No". The more blatant and deliberate attempts to scam WAU newcomers are probably more prevalent outside of the USA time zone, when there are less Members about to dissuade it. Rich. x

Thanks, Rich for giving a name to what she was talking about. I had no clue.

You are so right on! Happy packing today. Soon you will be settled in your new home. Yay!

Yes, I will be so happy when this move is over with! Have a GREAT day, Kathy!

You are right...thank you

Thanks, Javier!
